that's why, now, Anet have to sell it, that's how it can be free in the first place, when it is offer for free as a bonus to use the online store, if anet don't sell it now, i'll be very angry and think what i pay is actually for the BMP and that it is not free, if Anet don't sell it now, it cannot be call a free bonus at all. So I petition that in order to realised that BMP is actually Free they must charge for the BMP now!

that doesn't not change the fact that the bonus mission pack, is a free bonus to the players who have faith in Anet, we got the bonus pack free, because we have faith in Anet to come up with a good product.
and that also does not change the fact that Anet are entitled to earn their living, pay their wonderful designer, game designer, producers erm, okay to cut short, the entire staffs need to eat. :P and the company need to stay afloat.
and it also does not change the fact that the bonus mission pack isn't a "limited edition product", its a "time limit promotion"

Untruths prove NOTHING.

Let me put it this way, if they are going to sell it separate from the rest they should also put all the preorder items from prophesies till GW:EN into the online store.
I got myself qualified for it but IMO it whas a waste of a good 26 euro's
i rather bought me 2/3 kegs of beer for it. ^^

see the views? one is for weapon skins...the other for ingame screenies...
you decide what is more popular. gameplay screens or skins.
the threads that started before release date were pure speculation...until release.

I would buy it, but guess what? I'm still not that modern to buy through e-stores and I still like buying games in boxes, so I can collect them.
Oh, and I have crappy credit card - I can't transfer my native value (Polski Zloty) into USD, euro or any other value. So I would buy BMP if I could use my country's money.

Yes Loviatar, you are correct in all that you have said, there's no dispute there, but you fail to see when the promotion is over, these missions that is a bonus to the loyal fans of Guild Wars won't be bonus mission pack anymore, they will also not be free anymore, because they will have become a regular mission pack, for sale or not, is up to Arena Net. and it will be good to see Arena Net selling them.
just so you know i also have the pack, see michaelangelo...

Lets be realistic here.
A-net never said there would be rewards or anything so people (like me) disregarded this.
Now that the BMP is out people (again, like me) are whining because we too want the cool skins that we'll never get.

Whine, whine - you can't get more god-awful ugly skins for your weapons. Boo-freakin-hoo!
You also can't get the woowee zowee graphic effects and skins from the Collector's Editions - or the special bonus goodies offered in other countries, etc, etc, etc, ad infinitum - get over it!
Oh, and to answer the Ops question - I have no idea why so many people regret getting it. It's not that big a deal. you do a few solo quests and get some different skinned weapons, most of which, with perhaps the exception of the Tengu, are ugly in my opinion.
When the next little bonus thing comes up people will be going gaga over the next group of skins.....

Lol! I must admit, seeing what the BMP is about I probably would have purchased Factions and/or GW:EN online. I did not buy them yet because I found them too expensive and the prices are dropping rapidly in 'real' stores. But the BMP is a nice little gadget and yes, if I had known this before I probably would have bought something online.
But, as statet numerous times, too late! I guess I continue to wait for the salez season.

For those claiming that they were unable to get it due to lack of Credit cards.

Every country in Europe, the US, Aus, Canada etc have access to pre paid credit cards. Very simple to top up, no credit checks, available to under 18 year olds and cost very little. These can be used in the online store with no issues.

Oh wait...
IMO this should have been a free addon for people with all campaigns. Not that I would have played it, since I haven't really played GW for months and I doubt I will again for a very long time. With the exception of festivals.
Ec]-[oMaN
Releasing content with a clause is a mistake in the first place. Then again anything to maximize profit for NcSoft and Anet, the 30$ goes straight to them with no middleman, wonder how much they made/lost vs shipping cd/code to stores for purchase.
Haijiibirdhead
Perhaps I can tell you why. aka This is my story on it.
I was a late purchaser of EotN as I simply was not ready to play it by the time the BMP was offered. Now It's my perogative not to force my hand and partake in the promotion and any rewards..except the MAGNITUDE of the rewards were absolutely not made clear. What I am saying is that if I had known that there would be rewards ike this, then I would almost certainly have reversed my position on buying the BMP when I had the chance.
I'm not complaining about the way the BMP was offered, I disagree with it, but it's ANET's choice so whatever. but
I do think its quite underhanded of them to not have included a preview of some sort way back when , of the designs of these weapons.
The people I see on these forums dealing out smug and snide remarks to those "whining" about not being able to buy it, are simply mostly those who were going to buy EoTN at that point anyway.
(Those who spent $29 or more JUST to get the BMP are pretty sad imo)
To sum up my position I'll give this analogy.
Say a rich man offers the average joe one thousand and fifty dollars, but in exchange , he has to travel across the country to recieve it, and exchange it for a thousand bucks of his own. Now some ppl, IF theyre headed to that point in the country anyway...would be more than happy to take up the Rich man's offer and kudos to them, but for others, It simply wouldn't seem worth it at the time.
Now lets say that on arrival, the Rich man decides to change his offer from one thousand and fifty dollars to TEN THOUSAND dollars. Then the ppl who took him up on his offer would be pretty ecsatic. But when those who didnt take him up on his offer HEAR about this, and ask if they can be included too, the Rich man tell them that it's too late. Too late.
Now I'm the kinda person who would normally just shrug it off and say "meh at least I'm no poorer"
But what RIGHT do those who took the rich man up on his offer and got their $10,000 , have to talk DOWN to those that didnt in a pretty rude manner? It is because of those people , who in my opinion are bang out of order, that I felt that I needed to make my voice heard on this issue.
- If you got the BMP , it doesnt give you the right to be smug and rude to those that obviously already regret not doing so.
The reason I dislike this promotion is that for EVERY OTHER promotion ANET has done , ranging from PVP tournaments to designing a wintersday hat, or the divine aura or collectors dance, BOTH the investment and the reward was made crystal clear. So you knew where you stood in your decision to accept or reject the offer. Not so here.
- My two cents.

He did say "just to get the BMP". I got the BMP and I'm not offended by what he said, but have seen plenty of offensive remarks aimed at those who would like to buy it and missed out.
Simple fact is - it was sad for someone to spend $30 on stuff they didn't need/want to get something worth far less and then turn around and diss all those who didn't, because they would still like to buy the pack in a sensible, unmanipulated manner.

"Hypocrite much?"
Can you talk in a way that normal ppl do please.
Well obviously it's not smart imo. If those ppl have money to burn on that then that's their business and their perogative.
But for you, the clue is in the name..BONUS mission pack. it's retail value is clearly not the same as a full blown campaign and those who made such a "smart" decsion in buying it for it's own sake, obviously paid alot more than what it is worth by itself.
Things are only worth what some ppl are willing to pay for them granted, but it'd like someone paying thousands of dollars for rare trading card. To some it's seen as "sad" to obtain it that way, and for others it is not.
By sad I did not mean it in a rude way, and what i meant is " a waste of money in my opinion"
Ps - I have a hard time believing that those who spent 30 bucks just to get the BMP KNEW they were making a smart decision. Odds are they knew they were being manipulated into paying more than what it was worth, but they just hoped that the gamble would sort of pay off, which it arguably has.
That's what it was, a gamble, as it could of easily been mediocre missions with poor green weapon rewards.

The Guild Wars Bonus Mission Pack will allow you to play through four pivotal moments in Guild Wars history. |
Quote:
Earn unique rewards as you go face-to-face with Palawa Joko and his undead army as one of the key figures in the Battle of Jahai. |
Something different, one of a kind, not available anywhere else. For me, when i saw Turai, and it said Unique Rewards, i instantly thought: TURAI'S SWORD??
The only thing they didn't say, was that these items would be customized.
So i bought GWEN through the store.
After the Eternal Blade started showing up in UW, it made my hunch even stronger.
Now....you might be saying, "How the hell am I supposed to know that?"
Well question... do you know what the next festival masks will look like?
Does Anet tell in always in advance exactly what it is?
It's a surprise and a very pleasant one (or unpleasant...if you dont like whatever mask you get).
I mean....if they said, youll get something good if you stand in this circle, and wait for 3 hours, but you didnt know what it was gonna be, would you stand there for 3 hours?
You took that gamble. So thats all on your head.

And Funny, I never heard A net call the rewards "something gooD" or ever gave any indication of their quality.
and Furthermore I do not understand what you are trying to accomplish for there is no debate here. The OP asked a question and I have give one of the answers and the answer that pertains to my situation. Now the vadility of my reasons is highly subjective and is outside of the scope of the OP's original question and therefor the topic, and hence is not up for further debate as far as I am concerned.

it was open for EOTN purchase to qualify until October 31, 2007 which is very recent
any time Anet makes any claim on how nice something will be it raises expectations to the moon resulting in a Anet/Gaile flamefest for false advertising
i took a chance you didnt now what you want is a bonus weapon pack of those skins not the short missions
so stop complaining
it was a bonus surprise not a weapons pack sale for the epeen crowd
the cut off was way past EOTN release not just that point in time
you dont want the fun of the mission lore you want a weapons pack.
they had faith that Gaile was right when she said it would be well worth it and she was right
and you are so wrong on that
Divine Aura / special dances were not shown at all and only a vague idea was given before i got mine

Special Dances are pretty clear actually. You know what youre getting. And This topic asked me why I regret not getting it, and I have given MY reason. You are out of place to try to belittle my reasons and opinions when that is what was asked for by the OP. Your rant Loviatar was NOT. And if you were listening, ITS the likes of YOU that i'm complaining about. NOT ANET. Aka there wouldnt BE a complaint or an objection from me if you let people express their opinions (and what the OP asked for no less!) without rude insults and flamebait.
and alright ill defend my analogy- and elaborate on my initial point.
It doesnt really matter if its $1050 or a great unknown. The simple fact is that the reward was perceived by many as not being worth going out of ones way to obtain. My judgement call was based on a standpoint where I did not have suffiicient access to the investment vs reward. Neither do the people in my analogy.
as I have said before, I dont take offence against A net as its only a few weapons, but I DO take offence at people using their " freedom of speech" (which does not exist on Guild wars guru anyway) to talk down to others who regret not taking part, much liek Loviatar just did ^ and who did not only because they had an insufficient idea on what the rewards would be.
"
Except there was no "Free Viewing" was there. It would be like this
- A Studio makes a movie, yet shows no previews or trailers of the actual content, and only releases a worded summary of a bit of the movie. and THEN price the movie at five times what it would usually be worth, but they say you can get it free if you watch four other movies made by them.
Now if you were going to watch those four movies REGARDLESS aka before the offer came along, then yay ..good for you , its win win. But If you werent, its not an unreasonable position to think that the person would pass on it.
Yet it later turns out that the movie was the greatest thing man ever put onto film.
SO the people who passes on the offer , ask if they can still see the movie, EVEN AT the price the Studio put for it.
But the Studio , refuse and say that no, it's too late and you cant, and it's not coming out on DVD. (Anet said theres no plans to rerelease the BMP)
Now the ppl who got refused..some may be bothered by that, others may not be. I however think that those the DID see the film to tell them to pretty much "Shut up and deal with it , Lifes not fair" Is a pretty darn rude and unfair thing to say. Hence my entire objection in this topic.
and alright ill defend my analogy- and elaborate on my initial point.

If you skip out on a free viewing of a movie in theaters whose preview didn't impress you only to rent it later and change your opinion, you'd be hard pressed to accuse the movie's marketing of deceiving you into making a bad judgment call. |
