Titles you wish didn't exist

All should be removed. GW was advertised as a no-grind RPG and they've completely fallen away from that by adding... grind.

I think we can all agree that Survivor, when people actually kill stuff instead of just doing Boxing, is a blight upon any PUG.

Gamer because you can't progress except on very few special occasions.
LDoA because it derives from an exploit, not because it takes long to complete.

I don't go out on 'kill a troll, save a PuG' helping hand missions as much because, there is usually 1 or 2 trying for a survivor title in the group.
You want me to help keep you alive???
Sorry 'survivors'..that's just selfish and rude on your part.

Don't get me started, who wants to death level and do all that grind? Sure it's great to have but still. What does everyone else think? |
Personally, I find titles are an interesting way to gauge how much time you spend doing each thing in your time spent in GW. As far as having a title you want to show off to other people go, I don't really see a point in it at all.
The only reason I'd wish certain titles didn't exist would be so that it would funnel players away from simply 'farming' an activity for a title, and rather focus on the enjoyment of an activity as its sole reward. Things like the gamer and lucky/unlucky title, treasure hunter and double Fame/Champ/Glad title tend to congest the areas where these titles are farmed which actually has a direct impact on other peoples' gaming experiences.
As a final comment, as a person who cannot find enjoyment in grinding out titles it feels somewhat disheartening when it's announced that your titles in GW1 will have some kind of impact on your GW2 account. It basically means I would have to do something unenjoyable in a game simply to be be at even-footing with other players. Then again, it's been like this since PvE skills have been introduced into the game, and to a lesser extent the impact of your titles in key retention and salvage rates (thank god for perfect salvage kits ^_^)

None. I like a title? I go for it.
I don't like a title? I don't go for it.
And hard mode being too hard is one of the most stupid thing I've ever read on these boards. Sure, HM can be really frustrating but guess what? Don't like it? Don't do HM. It's that easy.
Threads I wish didn't exist is a different story. This one is a prime example.

I don't do it to boost my epeen - if I want to get something I'll find it worthwhile to do, if I don't wanna get it... I just don't. Reason why I don't have FoW armor for my assassin, I don't like it. Why in hell would I get it... hold on. To please someone else?
Yeah. Right. People do it I know, but I surely won't get something that takes 200 hours to do BECAUSE it's the leet thing to do. If I don't like it, to hell...

I don't care what others do to have fun in this game, I don't see why other people should care about what I do. You find PvP fun? All the power to you. You prefer PvE? Go for it.

Some people enjoy grind, just look at the success of WoW. Before titles were added, these and other forums were riddled with people wanting the level cap raised. Titles were an easy way to introduce the feeling that a character is developing without forcing the experience on others.
I suspect that the 4,000 anti-titles posts have driven ANet to gear the GW2 PvE experience to one without a level cap. GG anti-title whiners, now you get levels to grind instead of some useless words below your name. I actually found titles to be an elegant solution to give people who seek the grind process something whithout taking anything away form eveyone else. How about next time, less whining and more just letting people play the game in their own way when it doesn't hurt you.
So what titles do I want out? None of them, they don't affect my game experience in any way unless I choose to pursue them.

Everyone says LDoA should be removed, but remember the title was implemented after the game came out. The designers never planned for it, it just sort of happened because they found out some people were grinding to get to level 20 in pre-searing. So the developers decided to make the title for the people who spent all that time accomplishing something. To be honest I think the title is ridiculous and I would never go for it, but people are different.
As for title that should be removed, I don't think any of them should be removed; however, that is not to say some of them could use some remodeling. For example the Gamer Title, in all its prestige, should be something people are able to achieve all year round, not just during special events.
Personally I would like to see more titles introduced to Guild Wars; however, with the current state I doubt if it will ever happen. You never know though.

Then again, if people find hard mode too hard I can see why titles that take either skill or effort bug them.

I think all of them should exist. I mean, really, what would everyone do if there were no titles to occupy their time?

Well lets wipe Australia off the planet since im not too fond of kangaroos.
Perhaps if this was the "titles you dont like" thread, but "titles that should be removed" would require a bit more forethought in my opinion.

LDoA and Survivor are the only titles I have even a small issue with and it's just for the fact that they exclude characters. Characters that were create before the titles were available can't get them, and LDoA completly excludes characters from other campaigns. All other titles are fine imo
and Tender... sorry but hardmode is pretty easy... no reason to hate it

Any title you've managed to achieve, since they're beyond meaningless if someone who finds hard mode 'so hard' can actually get them.

Titles should exist as a means of showing your accomplishments. A badge of honor representing your status as a, "veteran." Absolutely nothing wrong with that. For this to be the case they should represent true accomplishments such as completing the game, winning many victories in PVP, fully exploring the continent, etc.
On the other hand if character power level is affected by titles, through the use of overpowered title based skills, then you have created a monstrosity of a situation wherein the basic concept of a game where your time spent farming doesnt affect your power level is broken.
GW was originally designed so that you were not forced to continu to seek out that slightly better weapon in order to maintain parity wiht hte community. By making max weapons relatively easy to come by they were making a stand against the trend in other games. The addition of title based skills effectively ended that. GW titles, and skills based on them, are now the equivalent of those uber weapons available in other games. Sure you cant sell a title but the effect on gameplay is the same.
What would people think if ANET had added weapons that provided the benefits you get from some of the title based skills ? Sorry but I think the decision to intruduce the, "Axe of Bearkind," to the game and similar, "uber items," is the only bad part about titles.
Which titles specifically would I remove ? None at this point. Even the buyable titles required someone to farm hundreds or thousands of platinum to get. These are, "see how good of a farmer I am ?" titles. On the other hand I would rather not see titles of that sort in GW2. I think that the rare skinned weapons that a skilled farmer wields should be enough to sate that desire for recognition.

No titles should be removed instead more titles should be added that recognize skill and not just grind. Right now theres is 0 PVE titles that reward skill, thers only a couple PVP titles that do. Thats the problem. We need PVE titles that reward skill but thast hard when Anet just balances PVP and totaly unbalanced PVE with cheat codes aka ursan. And thast fine but we gotta regonize some skill too.
Thizzle
All the ones where you click on a drink, eat, or click a item and get a title for it.
