It's brilliant design from Linsey and the Live Team to have moved the final chest and then created the condition for a "tough" fight. I'd love now to go and play "balanced" (and get the HoM statue too!).

They had just moved the farming attention to the FoW and now they intoduce an enemy thats best (read: quickest) killed with SF and increases the value of the end chest dramaticly due to new mini/skins. Is it really that hard to reverse SF to non sustainable duration?

keep the corpses in the area of the priest and just spam wells and wards around him. Spirits like recup and life help a lot too...
As far as killing mallyx... it's almost laughable when he's pulled out of the gate.
(to pull out of the gate... all but one player needs to stay back near the priest.. and skip the cutscene VERY fast... then run out of the gate.. gg)

I understand people might make the "life is not fair" argument, so I'll leave my statement at this: When you have to buy a shitload of consumables and keep your whole party under protective spirit constantly when you play balanced, something is wrong. Dhuum just promotes the use of another dumb gimmick with tanks. Be it Obsidian Flesh, Shadow Form, or whatever. I wish that were changed :| |

I'm confused. Even more confused than before. With the Halloween quests and the skeletons, I was wondering what exactly the Live Team were trying to do. Though the skeletons were a hindrance to speed clear groups, it was evident that many were still doing fine, just with slightly longer times. The problem was unresolved.
I thought I'd wait for Dhuum's appearance and see if it cleared things up. Well, it hasn't. The first screenshot of a defeated Dhuum is a party of 6 assassins (presumably all SF) and 2 monks. Perhaps they didn't finish it particularly fast, but they've shown that SF is still the king of the Underworld. No doubt within a few weeks, Dhuum will be mastered and clear times will be down below 20 minutes again. To top it all off, a bunch of shiny new rewards await. If clear times are now slightly longer, these will more than make up for it.
What is the point of all this? How has the problem been addressed? ArenaNet, do you enjoy wasting your time?

What I'm wondering most is the drop rate of those stuff....I hope its not another mini polar bear or eternal sword debacle where the drop rate is so low that even with skill its still a grind. I've been saying that UW needs an increase in reward for a long time but not with the type of rewards where most people can't get it playing normally before GW2 comes out.

yup exactly lol..some1 will eventually come up with a new way to do this now if they do nerf shadow form and think of the ammount of people who will do it..these minis probably wont be rare for to much longer

There's largely a need for balancing basically most gimmicks (PvE and PvP) in GW... BUT... this just won't happen... and IF it does... it'll take months. (As noted by the past 2 years of GW history.) Dead game is Dead... and shit like this is just killing it faster. The Dhuum idea is amazing... it really is.. I've been hoping for some new PvE content for a while... since, I mean... one can only take so many R/A shattering assault sins in HA.. (topic saved for a rainy day, ffs.) The Skills that make him "IMPOSSIBLE"... if you look... have incredibly long recharges.. he swings a #$$%ing SCYTHE kids... anti-melee ftw? Seriously... put your thinking caps on and get outside the box.. stop watching you-tube videos and studying PvXwiki.com like it's your homework you should be studying and learn the skills.
Btw:
Judgement of Dhuum: 4 second duration with a 45 second recharge that does collectively 300 dmg to everyone... it's called.. Glyph, HP, HP. O.o healed.
Reaping of Dhuum: only 200 dmg to 4 people every.... again... 45 seconds.
Heal up and be pro.
Weight of Dhuum: it's a hex... with a 5 second duration... it's a nasty migrane + LC... remove it... 15 second recharge... Divert it? PnH? I mean... really?
Touch of Dhuum: to me... seems to be the only real problem for any team I could contrive... the auto DP is gay... and kinda seems like the only thing that would NEED some cons for.. (ie: powerstones, clovers, etc)
but could still be feasible without them.
But... to agree with this fella... Don't just Nerf Shadowform... just feckin' CHANGE IT... like... completely... make it a longer, elite version of Dark Escape + Blocking 75% or some shit... That would feasibly allow sins to play sins the way sins played sins in PvE before SF was SF... remember when no one would pug sins cause all they would do was tank shit? Just let them... But 86 the bullshit.

In other words, you don't like it, don't do it that way, but no matter what happens, a gimmick that's broken will pop up.

Changes I'd like made in light of this revamp:
1)Get rid of some non-skeley-of-dhuum mobs in UW
2)make Terrorspawns in Ice Wastes quests predictable (set location)
3)Make Touch of Dhuum a touch skill
4)make Curse of Dhuum point-blank
Some more might pop into my head. These should be easy to make and require less frustration.
While I agree that SF is a problem, it is only because it is the quickest option. I say quickest because one screw-up from one SF will cause multiple chain-reactions, including slowing down the run, ragequitting, and elitism. In a way, SF is not a problem as well. The design of UW as an elite mission is flawed.
With that said, the addition of Dhuum indeed makes UW that much more harder and leet-worthy. Tragically, it only promotes the problem that Anet(well, Izzy, but probably under the demands of his superiors, but I'm not going to get into that now...) created: A Godmode button. No other game has this for obvious reasons. Hell, it even creeped into PvP.
Anet has indeed gone back to its roots in originality: creative bosses, impressive lore, and great artwork to boot; no repolishing old gems anymore. They are moving in the right direction, but the lack of communication (which you get from any company) is hurting them. It's better to rip off bandaids rather than let them get old and soggy, Anet...

Maybe it'll tie to more update leading to GW2 (again, it's a speculation with no grounding in anything devs/designers said). Maybe this is something that will make sense once the "SF-specific" design actions happen.
They may be "wasting time" from the point of view of a few players, but I'm sure that they're making a lot of players happy.

Protip: if you die while facing him, spam skill one, killing him alone won't kill him, he'll chill at 1hp.
