Merged: Factions Pre-Order Comments & Questions

i think it means the game ships on april 28th and i thought they shouldve sent you the preorder key and stuff to your email?
Myodato
The pre-order pack is essntially separate to the actual game pack. When you place your order, you should get a pre-order pack sent very soon, then the real thing in time for april 28th.
Make sure that wherever you're ordering from knows about the pre-order pack, as it seems not all "good" retailers do. Pre-ordering doesn't necessarilly mean you're getting the pre-order (crazy huh), so double check the small print before handing over the cash.

From what i understand the game will most likey be send out before the 28th, but will not hit the selfs till the 28th...Thats normal how it works.

We're talking about the full version, not the pre-order...

I think myodato hit the nail on the head. Thanks guys, once again this proves more helpful than contacting Anet support. Which store did you use myodato that did ship correctly?
Arkantos
I was wondering what store would be better to get the factions CE (collectors edition) pack. Should I get from future shop, EB games or best buy?

I've read you need to run the /preorder command to gain the two items promised for people who pre-order Factions and have the pre-order code.
But one question, are the items customized for the character you're using when you issue the /preorder command? I'm asking because I saw a picture somewhere where someone was showing off the items and they were customized. Of course, that person could have manually customized the items...

Apparently, it is. See here:

What's the point to the weapons then?

I Pre-Ordered Factions on 3/12 from BestBuy. They say it will ship 4/25. Also, Does anyone know if BestBuy knows about this "Pre-Order Pack"?
SilkyAsswipe
umm so that you can use them if you make a Assasin or a Ritualist. You can also use them with your current characters to preview some of the type of movements the new characters make, especially the Assasin with the daggers, tried it with my warrior, pretty cool.
SilkyAsswipe
Don't know about BestBuy but EBgames sure knows about it, got mine about a week ago, no hassle at all lol didnt even look at my receipt just asked my first name and there we go.
Amok
They really should change the name of the pre-order packs to something less confusing for retailers, since they seem to think preordering Factions is the same as the Factions pre-order pack.

Comes in a console game like case with a manual, another quick-key thing like the one that came with GW prophecies, but a lil different, a booklet with some of their games, the cd, and a lil key booklet. The most important thing is the lil key booklet because you get your factions preorder key, a guest account key, a 14 (i think its 14 it sound familiar) day trial to Auto Assault, which I'm dying to try out but I want to wait until the full version comes out, and maybe some other stuff. But this package is important if you preordered it cuz you get COOL STUFF so you gotta bitch at BestBuy until they get their **** straight and give u guys the package.

I advise you not to preoder from bestbuy (see my post at the bottom of the previous page). Best buy sent me an e-mail saying they will send the preoder pack along with the actual game on the 28th, stupid huh? Doesn't make sense to get a preoder pack after the game is out. Most of the others are the same way. I have heard that game stop has them, and aparently ebgames has them as well.
Eugaet
Besy Buy doesn't sell this as a bundle...it's a separate (apparently in-store) purchase. I doubt you'll be getting the Pre-Order Kit shipped with the retail release...I'd call and (nicely) harrass them about it...

i cant be bothered reading through 33 pages so ill just ask, i ordered on game(uk) pre order pack and for me to get my pre order key will i get it emailed to me or do i have to wait for the package to come with a pre order key?

Sorry if this question has been asked a lot of times before, but everything is very confusing and I can't really get an answer to this.
I want to have my GWF copy right from the start, if possible, I would like to have that "pre-order headstart". I don't need the Collector's Edition and no Ritualist/Assassin special weapons either.
Will it be enough to wait until March 31st and buy the THE EUROPEAN BOXED PRE-ORDER PACK as stated on GW website?
Or is getting THE EUROPEAN ONLINE PRE-ORDER a necessity to get the headstart?
Also, will the THE EUROPEAN BOXED PRE-ORDER PACK be available in stores or online stores? Or both?
Another, slightly OT question: I assume that all European version are the same. I have a UK version of GWP installed and want to buy the German GWF version now. Will I run into any trouble or are all European versions compatible?

Yes, the pre-order is available online and in-store. It just depends. Look at the top of this forum or somewhere around here about European stores/online stores.
I hope this helps.

If I were to order the European preorder online from GAME, would my card be charged and I then be asked to download a file? I'm exceedingly confused, as ever.

Okay, I live in Australia. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels so DAMN confused by the whole situation.
Now, I think to simplify matters, I'll just ask this question. I have concluded (from reading and such) that there are three packages.
1: The "pre-order" package, which includes special items etc.
2: The "collectors" edition which includes a bonus CD and other things
3: Just plain old Guild Wars: Factions, which you can buy/pre-order. No bonus material.
Is this correct?
If it is, then the "pre-order" package (which is a confusing title in itself, seeing as you can actually pre-order all of the packages) isn't coming to Australia, but the Collector's and normal edition are.
If it isn't, then can someone please fill me in? Preferably an Australian/Person who knows about the Australian situation regarding Factions.

you dont buy the pre-order package, you just hand your money over to pre-order either version of factions (normal or CE), and the store gives you the special pre order pack.

the preorder gives the ass/rit new professions a nice little item and has a few other things in it.
the cost of the preorder box is deducted from the retail box you also preordered if that makes sense

It was in the store thread.
The places that people got them in AUs was Townsville, some place in SA, Brisbane and the sunshine coast (mine). Dont know about other places though, i though i read that Sydney didn't have any or someting of that quality.
Anyway hope that helps.

In reading the guildwars.com website, it seems as if anyone with an active guildwars account can access the preview weekend, whether u have pre-ordered factions or not....correct? I was under the impression that you had to preorder factions, but I get from the below excerpt that if u already have the game u get it too.....
Thanks in advance.
"How can I get access to the FPE?
All existing Guild Wars retail accounts in good standing will automatically be able to access the Factions beta content during the weekend of the FPE.
If you haven't purchased Guild Wars yet but you'd like to try the FPE, you can gain access in one of the following ways.
For customers in America:
* You can preorder Guild Wars Factions at your local retail store, and use the access key provided in the preorder box to make an account for FPE.
* You can ask a friend who owns Guild Wars to invite you into the FPE, in which case you will be emailed an access key that you can use to make an account for FPE."
Thanks in advance.

Correct. All Prophecies-enabled accounts have access to the preview weekend.
All accounts also have 3 access keys for friends to access the preview weekend if they do not have Prophecies or a preorder key.

As owner of a GuildWars account, you can get into the event as well.

if your slots are full send yourself (different email ) and use that to set uo a temp event account

yep, mostly...
however, unless you wanne wipe a character, you need a free unused slot to use it...(the 'i have guildwars, i can play already?' question)
and for those who pre-order in the uk....get the friend invite key..otherwise, yer stuffed, since the not online order package gets to us on the 31st of this month...way past the time we need any extra keys that they might or might not have included....
also, its possible that, if you used one of the froob PvP weekend preview keys last moth, thsoe accounts might become active again on the day of the PvE preview....so if your full slots, try logging in with the one you used for the PvP day, it might work hehe

Who is the best person to buy the pre-order from right now? I have heard that EB is horrible...O I am in TN, USA so if you guys know the best place that would help a bunch

Best retailer for preorders would be Best Buy, IMO. I just went down there today to pickup another preorder since Gamestop ran out of the packages. They had a whole shelf of them, none missing. The only negative side to BB is that they charge $10 instead of $5. Also, they don't really put down your personal information or put you in an order log. You just pick up the case and go to checkout. Makes me wonder if it is really a preorder instead of a $10 disc.
Edit: Also, if you have a Fry's Electronics around your area, they have the preorders as well.

27TH comes out for preorders and collectors edition even better!
