Merged: Factions Pre-Order Comments & Questions

I think that key only gives you the 2 items and the headstart, to play the full game you've got to enter the key of the box you're getting in a like 10 days. Otherwise people would be able to play the game by only buying the pre-order box, some of them cost like a couple of dollars/pounds/euros. That would be stupid.

And godfreakingdamnit. This is really getting on my nerves, everday my dad gets packages with the post, cause of his job, and every day I hope my name is on one of those packages, but that ***** gets every package! AARGH! Sometimes I hate my dad. :P

finaly got mine in the late post.i also ordered early and got the e-mailed codes so i now have a spare pre-order key for my second account.
Divinus Stella
Same here, i got it in the post this morning, so i have 2 pre-order keys, but i paid for the collector version, does that arrive upon release or have game scammer me :P
JamSan
Ok, so this thread has got me worried, i was thinking of popping down to my local Game shop tommorow, and buying the boxed preorder package, i'll still be able to participate in the 24 hours before release event right? And that key will also give me access to the game afterwards? Or will there be two keys?
Sagaris
No, that key won't give you acces to the game after the 24 hour head start, otherwise it would be pointless for you to buy the game on release date would it. But you should get a refund on the full game, the same amount you spent on the pre-order box.
JamSan
Thank you for reassuring me so quickly

I Pre-Ordered from Game.net before the Factions weekend and received an email with a key for access to the weekend, and a key that gives me the Early access and ingame items.
Now today, not expecting anything, i received the boxed pre-order with the CD and all that jazz with another key for early access inside =)
This Pre-Order business can be somewhat confusing as to what you get for your money :/

Hiya!
Haven't really found the answer to these questions, and therefor I thought I'd ask you guys. I've got my pre-order package with the pre-order package key. If I use the install CD that came with it, and then use the key:
1. Will I be able to link my Prophecies and Factions accounts for the 24 hour head start event? That is; will my pre-order key work like the "real" key would work?
2. Will I be able to create a character and access it even after the real Factions box with the real Factions key comes out?
3. Upon april 28, is adding the real key all I have to do to get running?
Regards,
Gwon

-u have factions, means that for a day u can do all the things u would be able to do with a full faction cdkey.
-therefore u can travel with your old character to cantha, create new character in factions, use the new classes etc.
the only thing u miss are the 2 additional slots. for a day u keep playing with 4 slots, the 2 additional will be given once u register a retail factions cdkey, or buy it online via ncstore of course
once the head start ends, the characters u've made will be freezed till u add a retail factions cdkey. once u have done that, u can keep playing factions and your character created during the head start

I believe you'll have access to all your characters even without the Retail Key. Whether they will be transported to Tyria or you won't be able to leave the Canthan town you're currently in (unless you map to Tyria), I don't know.
dargon
In all likelyhood, any primary assassin/ritualists will be locked, any with secondary classes of assassin/ritualist won't have access to that characters secondary skills and anyone in cantha will be forced to the starting area on the battle isles. Armor, equipment etc probably won't be touched as for the most part within a week, anything you get in Cantha will be for sale in Lions Arch from another player.

Aaaawww.... A.Net put a timer on the Guild Wars site to show when Factions goes online, that hurts! And I read on GWOnline.net that there is a worldwide delay on the CE, god freaking damnit. I'm never going to order something online again.
Sagaris
Still haven't got it, I'm getting really desperate now. Maybe I've located the problem, I payed with a Visa card, but they asked for the bank of the card aswell, but the problem is... the Visa card is not connected to any bank. Is that a problem?

Ok, I preordered from gamestop for 50$ + s/h, got the preorder DVD box, and the pre-order key, I assume that once Factions is released I will get the regular factions Key. I just realized I have to be in a wedding and wont have access to a computer from thursday of factions release weekend through that sunday. So basically my pre-order key is useless since by the time i get to factions, it will have expired correct? SO can I give this to a guildie or someone else to take advantage of the pre-order, or is it somehow linked to my real factions key and will screw it up somehow?

However... by using it, you can get the preorder weapons. Add the key to your account and have your characters each use the /preorder command.

Ok, if I'm not getting the pre-order by mail tomorrow I'm ringing them up. And I'll ask them about the delay, I know the answer already, but who cares.
Mordakai
Yah, the pre-order keys are enough.
Basically, you download the content online instead of installing with a disk.
In fact, if you've played GW in the last month, you probably already have a lot of Factions on your computer!

Well, since the countdown is officially on, time to start wondering and worrying. I pre-orderred from Amazon.com, and my order status says March 10 for shipping (this was obviously wrong, and was in reference to the preview package). Since this was not updated, I e-mailed them to ask about an update on the date. The only useful part of their response was:
"I expect that it will be released on April 28th and it
will ship as soon as we recieve it in the fullfillment center."
So I guess that means we won't get it until May 3 or something. This could be even worse if there's the same delays and misscommunication as with the preview release date.
This was my first ever pre-order, and I was of the opinion that doing so meant that it was in your hands the second it was available. Otherwise, what would be the advantage of pre-ordering, when you can just go to a store and pick it up sooner. Was I just wrong here? Is there no chance that they ship to amazon this week, so that they can be sent to us to arrive on the 28th? It is just gonna really suck to get the day early entry, then have to wait days to a week before being able to continue my process.

from experience, when pre-ordering its best to do with either inside your local store or with a well known local company within the country.
I've known amazon and play to heavily delay shipping on pre-ordered items (happened in the past).
but normally with pre-orders, companies should ship it out the day before so you get it on the actual day of release, but of course this can be negated depending on postal service. The only real benefit of getting it online through internet is that the prices are cheaper than in store retail prices.

I have much concern about the day-early Factions pre-order bonus.
As I understand it, we will not be given the extra 2 slots until we add the retail key. I have no problem with this.
If we already have 4 PvE characters with no intention of deleting one to create a Cantha character, Will we be able to bring our Prophecies characters to Cantha on April 27th? Or will that continent be "locked" and only available to new Cantha-born characters until the retail key is added?
(sadly enough?) The answer to this question will dictate my sleeping patterns on April 26th/27th. If I can bring my existing characters to Cantha on April 27th at 12:01 AM Pacific time, I will make sleeping adjustments to be awake for it before work. If not, I will just go about my normal business until I get the retail key added.
If you have the answer to this, and have word from Gaile or one of the other PR people, please provide a link

go to lions arch
jump on boat
go to Cantha
PLAY YOUR BRAINS OUT.
it is only the 2 extra slots that wont be activated until retail

As stated above ^^
At 12:01 "hopefully" the content will be unlocked but if i remember correctly when prophecies was released there was a little delay in them unlocking it for retail. After it's unlocked you have 24 hrs to play in cantha to put in a retail key before the content is locked again. (So hopefully if you ordered online, it comes to you by then)

Its a gamble, sometimes you will recieve it a few days before the release date, and sometimes youll get a few days after.

dont know if there is any difference w/ amazon.com and the .ca, but in all their invoices. They usually put a "Shipping date" and a "Delivery time date". (it also says something like give it 1-3 days. which is their "estimate" etc.etc.)
this is basically normal with buying anything from amazon.

It all depends on what shipping you chose. If you pre-ordered and had it delivered to a store like Game Stop or EBGames, they can give you it a day before the actual game release because the shipment came in and you were on the pre-order, but that only works if you ordered it through them. So keep in mind of that info for future times. I would have done that, but I got ahold of a coupon for free overnight, so I did that instead. Millions of people go through amazon and probably was not a good choice on ordering through them for such a high-priority item, so you kind of set yourself up for that one.

1.http://www.guildwars.com/ They have a count down timer going.
2. Load the client, open it and add your pre-order key, when the timer runs out open it again and there will be a short down load and off you go. So you can load the client and put your key in it now just to be ready.

Then all you have to do is enter your pre-order key. Most of it has already been streamed to your PC.

I think I did the 3-5 day (I'm broke), which I unerstand is my choice/fault/problem. That's not what worries me, though. What does worry me is that they sorta indicate that they won't have it 'till the 28th (or later), and will then ship it. Even if you had done overnight, that would mean that you don't get it until a day late.
I guess I learned my lesson about amazon.com, but my only local store is EBgames, and they were more than clueless about the pre-order and package. Oh well, guess it was lose-lose :/
