[Merged] March 13 Update: Roll back to 1 PM Pacific, 21 GMT, officially announced

Well thankfully I was not playing any GW today so I won't be effected...good thing because I was planning on doing THK for the first time soon. :P

1. People complaining are so short sighted and selfish. They want their million dollars of horded stuff to be there yet will complain if they where on the other side of the stick. They would have b!tched if they never log on and ANet never rolled back. They will complain in 2 months when the economy is so [email protected] up that a major monk rune would cost 10k.

2. Who cares. Its a facking game. So you lost some runes and shards. Big deal. You still had fun while getting it right? You still have a no monthly fee game to play, you still have your health.

3. People are so dense and dellusional or just to young to understand that any explanation of why the roll-back is a necessity is futile.

Play Starcraft or CS while you wait.

Here is my personal point of wiev: (if u r bored dont read it lol)

1. First id like to say some things about myself. Im playing GW for about 7 months. All that i have now is monk fow armor, which i gladly bought it being happy i dont need shards for it. Ive got the gold and materials to buy it just from farming, but i didnt farm alone. I farmed with really nice guy, which i met in the game, a guy from houndreds of km away from me,which i never knew him before and probably ill never meet him. We farmed together for my armor. He gave me all the money he farmed for my fissure monk armor. I never could done it alone, its just insane to do it alone (for me). This is a game, a virtual place so ill never use real money for getting goods in the game.

2. I, personally think that GW is the best online game ever. But in my opinion Im very convinced that its all about to be addicted of GW not to "like it that much". Of corse im talking from my personal experience, but ive disscused this thing with a lot of friends from my guild or not.
Ppl r addicted to the game mostly because of the lack of ingame money. After u complete the game with more characters, u visit all places, what else can u do? (Im talking just about pve, because the traders reset affects pve). Thats what u do: u go 100 time/week to SF for farming greens, u go to FoW for shards or chests, u go to UW for ectos ...and so on. U do all this for getting some money. Its all about money. This is true for me and for other 95% of the players.
With some other word, ill give just an example: u dont have a monk, but u make one quickly to make it 55monk so ucan FARM ECTOS! good items and MONEY. so u learn to play an another profession, u discover a new part of a game, u never knew it befor. Maybe u dont have anymore free slots for the character and u r so addicted to earn some platinum, that u buy an another account. And so on.....
I always earned money in the game just playing. i heared about the last years reset. i wasnt online. i almost forgot about that incident, but im sure ill never forgot about this if theyll rollback.

After farming (or normal playing) like a maniac, after getting my FoW armor (the half of it), my pockets were empty for some months. i was like nice dressed but had nothing else left lol . Me and my friend farmed so hard for it, that i dont even want to remember it. Like maniacs. And for nothing....ill never do this again!
I always were thinking that something good will happen to me. Today when ive noticed the prices for runes and materials i thought this is the jack pot for me )))) Yes I bought a LOT of runes, shards not that much. i was thinking something like: after all this months of playing or i loose my money or i get everything lol. i have to admit, not ashamed of it, i was very disapointed when i saw about the rollback...this wasnt the jackpot for e, it wasnt my reward for playing so hard hahahahahhhaa (im a little bit exagerating because english doesnt really helps me expresing my true feelings, because english is not at all my first language)

I dont blame anybody, and dont agree with somebody, i really dont care anymore. After what happened today and what will happen at 4:30 GMT i have a feeling that i wont play as much as i did since now, because ive realised, i had a flash, that ill never get the money i need in the game, ill never have the items and weapons i want.....im very very familiar with all the clases, with all the places, earning some money to get stuff i want was my only reason of playing (i sadly found out the truth today, with all this thing with the traders reset) So if it will be a rollback i wont blame anybody (they r very right to do it, from their point of view), ill just be disguisted of it and of all that means making gold in GW. Its like u give to a poor a fortune so as he can say how good is it and next day u take it back and left him dyieng on streets again ))))

Im not the only one, forums are everywhere full of questions: "and how r we supposed to get money in this game"

And i realised something else: im just a poor character in the whole bussines, the rollback is not for me, is not for the best of GW economy, is for those who had put and will put real money in this game.

And if somebody asks me if ill buy GW2, im not sure ill will, 4 one big reason: in my ex-guild we were like 40 members. Im the only one left playing, they all quited. Some quited playing the game because they played whole the game in all meanings of it, some of them realised earlier theyll never afford what they want and others were more into pvp and after they got ranked enough they quited. These r my reasons because i want to play an online game to play with my friends and im too tired to make new ones, and i think im not very curious which will be the new places where u can farm ALONE. (Im very very coriuos about the new profesions and places tho )

If ill ever want to see how skilled i am making virtual money i think ill play a tycoon )))))) (back to the roots)

Admittedly, today a lot of people would have gotten incredibly rich to the point of destabilising the entire economy and I applaud Anet for taking this course of action.

This still doesn't make the former acceptable. Prices should have started out at an average between the then three economies instead of being reset completely. That little episode is still one of my biggest gripes with the way Anet is handling their "player-based" economy.

Wow, I think we have had all the standard messages...

1) Um, stop complaining it is FREE
2) You dont need FOW armor, you can finish the game with collector armor
3) You dont need gold or ecto
4) You dont need rare weapons, collector weapons work fine (maybe haven't seen this on in this thread)
5) Anet loves PvE as much as PvP
6) Ele's are still good even after the AoE patch
7) Anet improved the AI, it wasnt an AoE nerf
8) Anet loves farmers

How do these all always make it into posts that have nothing to do with most of this?

While I agree that some kind of reset was due I don't exactly agree with the rollback. A lot of people can't invest gazillions of hours (unlike some) to gain gold and whatnot. To those ordinary players it was a little gift.

I've always said the inflated prices of many items are separating those who have no life besides this game and the average joe who puts in a rational amount of time.

......well this sucks....

O well I never was on at that time so nothing is going to happen to me. Still got to wait about 1 and 1/2 hours till I can play again.....

Soooooo.... any ideas to pass the time.....I know lets play forums games!!!!

you exploited a unintentional mistake in a game.. if you dont get your money back.. its your fault.

maybe its about those ordinary players from my guild that asked me to lend them about 2-3k to buy some sup abs, because they just bought their droks armor and they had no more gold at all.

bah... is it being rolled back to 1 pm on 3-13-06 or on 3-12-06...

I bet once we log back in, they'll be a few mobs of people in towns and outposts angered by the rollback once they see the runes they bought are gone. Then, they'll say like, "F*** Anet, I'm playing WoW!"

Of course, I have to admit, I bought like 10 sup runes too. But I wouldn't mind about the rollback, it was fun while it lasted and it was nice seeing all those sup absorptions/vigors in my inventory, quite a view.

Ok I look at it this way ... Have you ever been playing a game and had the power to your house shut off because of a storm or some electrical issue .. And lost hours of work to some stupid shit .. I say get over it .. move on .. and pick up where you left off.

I mean cmon if it was a storm, what are you gonna do .. go outside and swear off rain, or whine all day, hell i have used this downtime to read up on builds, look for more farming spots, and laugh at all the people whining like little girls, ok so you can't play your game for a bit, isn't that better than having everything in your inventory worth nothing.

Thank You ANET for rolling back. No one is perfect, crap happens, just happy to see them take real quality interest in fixing the game.

For those of you who are pissed cuz you are missing a few hours of the game, go spend some time with family, take a break from your screen. Or clean your room. :P

I really feel sorry for those people. As if getting to level 60 wasn't bad enough, the grinding for those l33t shoulder pads is awful.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I didn't get a refund for my SoA Axe when it got nerfed, this shouldn't be any different. When you take risks, sometimes you lose.

Although I assume the rollback will just restore the game and give everyone thier money back.

sheesh, I won't lie, I was like a kid in a candy store. The rollback is fine with me since America didnt have favor and I happened to be in a town selling some things when "ZOMG 250g for shards!!!". Damn skippy I bought some up. I wasnt around during the last reset and thought this was actually a game. Silly me. I figured it was a way to get even with the people who farm for ebay. I bought items up for my guildies and yes, to use for myself. Maybe now if Anet can do something about the idiots scrolling in local chat 500 times "WTS ecto 7k.....345" "WTS ecto 7k....346". Good call on the rollback IMO since now we won't have 4 million scrollers trying to sell shards, gems, and runes. I'd gladly give up the shards I bought if they'd start regulating the rooms more also, instead of worrying about prices. Reporting seems to not effect anything. /endgripe

personally, I didnt even bother when I heard about it. I thought it was too good to be true. It was amusing to hear about it and about all the excitement relating to it though.

the word rollback: I bet that stung a few players in more ways than one, today, no doubt.

Yes, a roll-back is like a leap in time. If you spent 1000 on Superior Runes, the Runes will go away, but the 1000 will return to your pouch. There's no loss there. That is not to say there is no loss anywhere. We know that somewhere, someone has completed a difficult mission for the first time. Someone has had a special green item drop, which he may seek for some time into the future. We are very sensitive to the fact that there will be losses, and we're very sorry for that.

But know that if we did not handle this, and did not conduct a roll-back, everyone would be the loser. Everyone would suffer irreparable harm, because the items that have value would be devalued. The economy would be damaged, perhaps to the point where it would never recover.

So, without being unsympathetic about any individual's loss, I do feel that, given the alternatives, handling this with a roll-back means that it's a short-term loss for some, but a long-term gain for all.

I wonder what they're using to restore the game point. I hope it's not something crappy (I'm sure it's not) or it might be glitchy and some people will be missing some stuff. And you know what happens to people who claim something of theirs went missing...nothing.

ANet will be wary of people trying to get money saying they lost items in the rollback, even if it actually true.

Good job on the Rollback, I think overall it made the community happy. If there was no rollback, I could see a lot of people quitting due to the broken economy.

Dang, I bought the Pre Order today and was hoping to put the key in... I swear... out of all days Guild Wars decides to deny me access...they had to pick today, heh.

Waiting (mostly) patiently to log into the game, I see that a large download is occuring (currently at 217MB and counting). Anybody know how large the total download is/will be? And what about those 56K'rs? I wonder what that is going to be like ...

I've been browsing Guru, and tweaking a few things on our guild website.
I know, sounds pathetic, but what would I do without GW...

Edit: Oh yes, how could I have forgotten...I've also been pondering over how rich I could have been if all those Obsidian Shards, Rubies, etc were still there in my inventory
