To Glob of Nooboplasm: in a rollback, everything is reset to it's previous state before the server error. That is to say, anyone who just bought items will lose them, all characters and accounts will be reset *as though the error had never occured*.
But I was wondering, will the guild ladder be affected by this update? (I suspect it will, but my guild's rating went up by around 100 points before the update :-/)

Ok people stop bitching about everytinhg. Shit happenns, it is a fact of life. If you can't deal with it, it's your problem, no one else's. All I can think of now is "i wanna lvl my new ele, and i hope me finishing seaboard mission will still be there." But this is the first time sicne the game's release that there has been a major technical problems. If you complain this much about this, go and try World of Warcraft. I palyed for about a week and there were constant problems with about half servers, and there was server lag pretty much everywhere (no, not my computer, the server itself). Besides, this game is free, you only pay once when you buy it. You don't like it, go to anotehr game and leave us that like it to enjoy the game.

i never called anyone disgusting, but as gaile said it should make you think "hold up that can't be right".also gaile just admitted that the first reset was a mistake so stop trying to use that as an excuse.and thank you gaile for clarifying why there was no rollback the first time.i did find a perfect req 8 fire wand but it wouldn't have replaced my rago staff so no loss there and i can go get my elites again and shout at the hench even more for aggroing to many blessed griffons at once.i also have nothing better to do in gw till factions event anyway but still feel sorry for those who thought they had overcome a real obstacle only to find they must do it again.
p.s. nice to see so many honest people who did buy stuff, and who could have made a fortune from this error, happy to give everything back with the rollback.

Everything will be affected what you did within that hour or so gvg, fame, drops, buys etc.

They are moving the game, back a few hours, before the glitch happened!
So, the people get their cash back, and the items are gone, and the price has returned to normal!
It's EXACTLY what it would be at ~ 1:00 PM PST.
Nobody has the shards they bought at 250 gold, nothing that was purchased after that time.
The end of our nice little cute story!

I layed the game A LOT that is why I have the stuff I have. From drops mostly, some from stuff I have sold. I didn't intend to have so much stuff it happens when you play the game a lot. I don't/didn't farm really, I just played the game. BAck in the beginning you could do UW or FOW and get really decent drops, then all of a sudden nerf, nerf. nerf. The solo builds just to get the same drops you got as a team, then nerf, nerf, nerf.
The it was helping people out who were new, or needed to do a tough mission. The it was not paying at all.
Having "wealth" means nothing in this game IMO. But it is a byproduct, or WAS a by product of PLAYING the game. Since most people get run everywhere, and all the drop spots have been nerfed into oblivion that isn't the case. BUt until I see something worth trading those materials for, I am stuck with them.
If the new armor sucks or doesn't require ectos or shards, you will probably see a drop in prices as I sell what I can to the merchant before I max out my bank again.

Just my two cents, but this game is FREE TO PLAY!!!!!!! Don't complain because once in a great while something goes wrong. I have WoW and it crashes more than ANET and thats a pay site.

ok...here's the way i see it.
for the people who made an amazing deal...guess what...you get your item back and can sell it again.
for the people who had an amazing drop...i truly feel bad for you...but the rollback is completely justified for the third group...
the people who bought up everything at 250g.
its easy as that...we cant sacrifice the total economy in-game because of a couple of fame gained, a few dozen great drops, or a couple hundred people who finally managed ThK.
Basically...if you did it before...youll be able to do it again...if you lost a drop...you have a better one coming to you.
understand why a-net needs to do the rollback...and deal with it.

I lost victos axe.. I got from drop on top of it. :\.. Only 30k but still something
Mystic Memory
I don't think they had any other option...

Does it really matter if you lost some fame/a nice gold item/a completed mission etc etc? Everyone else lost whatever they did in the last hour before the reset too. Don't forget that this is just a game, none of it matters out in the real world.
I can understand a little frustration, but those of you having murderous fits of rage really need to step back and breathe some fresh air.

This is so unfair to the players who worked hard, cant they just take the high end stuff and put that at the average price? and reset the rest? I mean come on, Superior Vigor, Monk Runes, Superior Absorb, Ecto, Shards, Rubys and Saphires, and black dyes I wish they would reset others and put prices back to the average prices. Damage has been done though. They should view the logs and see who bought gobs of stuff and take it all back and return the gold spent. |

Um dude, this isn't a result of someone flooding the market. Nobody caused a massive drop in price by selling thousands of these items at once. They clearly state that is was a server error, not a flooding of the market. If someone flooded the market, it wouldn't just drop from 4.5k a shard to 250 a shard just like that. It would slowly and I mean very slowly drop. I've sold 50 deldrimor steel to the trader without seeing even a slight change. So Anet isn't interfering with someone's decision to try and nerf prices. They are fixing a server error, not taking away your freedom to effect the economy.

good guild buddy of mine might be losing a 14^50fellblade. we were clearing FoW today but cant remember what time he got the drop.

The reset was a major thing. When someone says "Superior Vigor and Absortion, along with shards are at 250g at the traders" I find it hard to believe that people would just say "Oh, that's nice." And continue playing. I guarentee you that nearly everyone who was on during this time period that new about the prices were at the traders buying all they could. While yes, if not for the rollback the economy would have been ruined for a very long time, it is natural that we want to get rich quick. And what better way than to buy low and sell high? I do not agree with your theory that everyone lacked self control when this exploit appeared. If someone in real life offered you a mansion for 50 bucks I bet you'd buy it. Same goes with Guild Wars. You'r offered amazing deals and since many thought it was just another price reset to help the economy, what would be wrong with taking that great deal?

hi there, today when i wanted to play i coudlnt log on, it said try again in a few minutes, and this keeps popping up. Mayb im doing something wrong, or its i sdunno what, but can anyone explain to me this, and are all of u having this same problem?

105 shards. But than again I did buy them during the exploit, so I guess its only fair that they go away. As long as my money gets back to me.

I won't lie, it was quite chaotic in our guild. I was the first to notice the unusually low prices of some of the items, and quickly advised all who were online in AL to stock up. But I didn't invest too much gold, I knew this couldn't have been intentional and A-net wouldn't let that many Shards, Rubies, and expensive runes into circulation at such cheap prices. But that was indeed quite a scare, I just pray that when I log back on tonight at 11:30EST, no harm will have been done to my accounts.

Moves like this makes it seem anet is for the countless korean farmers who make real money off this game off of ebay. What would happen if things were to be left the same... a lot more people with fow armor that they got considerably cheaper... and thats about it. Wasnt this game supposed to not be the grind and contant farming found in other mmorpg's. The impact would hurt those farmers because what they spend countless hours on would be worth nada. Looks like a whole lot of bad publicity right b4 factions.. not a good sign of things to come IMO

Well handled by ANet in my opinion. It would have been too much work to search ALL the logs. Unfortunate for those who got a 15^50 Crystalline or Dwarven Axe drop, but other than that, it's really only the people who sold a weapon or upgrade (they will have to FIND the person they sold it to) and people who went on a really good Fame run. Don't complain about a few fame. It's bad, but a lot worse things could have happened (i.e. controlling the Halls). And truthfully, I don't think any mission is that hard. Watch as THK folk start saying how hard it is. THK is easy with henchman if you know what you are doing, not the "OMGZ MONK CAN'T HEAL" kind of people.
Anyways, it is unfortunate for those who weren't at the trader trying to make a massive profit or get FoW armor. Would be bad if, like Drok's armor, you went into a town or outpost and like everybody was a clone (i.e. looks the same and all wearing FoW armor)....

Look at it this way, Guild Wars has been out almost a year, and this is the first time they've had to do anything this drastic (to my knowledge.)
ArenaNet does a great job..... <snipped> |
For me, it is not a big deal. I missed it. For the gent that made rank 6, it sucks to be him at this moment. That being said, I hope ANET gives a special in-game shout out to the PVP fans on this one. They took the hardest hit... PVE'ers were never in the position to lose much over such a short span.

Tho have to agree that i do feel sorry for those that have just done a particular hard mission ( Hells comes to mind on my other char, taken me almost 2 weeks to get into a decent PUG, oh well have to redo. ) or found that nice gold item.
But overall its a game, shit happens and sometimes ppl need reminding of that.
P.S. Thank Gaile for your replys, try not to take some of the whiners comments to seriously their just venting as their not going to become uber wealthy in 1 hit. Keep up the good work ( know you guys dont get too much praise from us sometimes. )

Battle that is just it, there isn't enough gold to make them that valuable. Therefor it would force people to adjust the prices to accomodate the amount of items. It is a CLOSED system.
When people find out they can't sell that Victos Axe for 45K anymore guess what, the price drops. We saw it with all the "geniuses" who thought they would be mega rich buying up candy canes. How'd that work for them?
To have value something has to have a use. Shards and ectos are primarilly used for FOW armor, or for guys with high end stuff to trade with. Having way more than you could ever find a use for doesn't make you rich, it makes you uselss. So if you have something that is worth an equivelant of 30million say, what would you ever spend it on, and if you did find something to spend it on what would the guy do with all themoeny that you bought the item from?
There is only so much "wealth" a person needs. I could have bought a lot more stuff, I didn't. I bought enough to make what I figured would be 6 sets of armor (assuming 105 pieces per, and 2 extra slots) Since that is still what I am holding out for, that is basically all I can do. Then once I get that those I can clear those spaces in inventory and go from there.
That is just it, having a lot of stuff doesn't make the game anymore fun, it makes it a lot more boring, because there isn't anything to do. That is why I am hoping and praying that the armors in the new edition are worth buying.
