get the clarity, but dont put it on your headgear, thats where your weapon rune goes.
dont even bother with other people for awhile, just listen to what the NPCs tell you until you get a feel for the game.
if you are following the quests/missions in order it should be extremely easy. see if you missed something....
you should have a few characters anyways, just dont skip it on the next one.
