Way i see it - kormir absorbed all the knollege etc of abbadon and going by the end cutscenes was to become the carrying vessel without the taint...

Before Hom - armor was mixed according to the individuals owns likes and a lot of times players mixed 2 or 3 diff armors to have a different look...
