We've seen that gold effect glitch before on mesmer armour. The solid black is either an edit, or another graphics glitch.

This is not really the Galen mission. The Galen mission only needs you to visit some locations in SF. Doing the slave quests is optional.

Saving 3 inventory spaces is worth 400g to me. If I farm to the point of filling up my inventory, those 3 extra slots mean an extra 150 - 300g...

I got myself crushed the the first one of them that I found. Just to see what would happen. Strangely enough, it doesn't crush henchmen...

I agree. To a farmer, 400g for a key is like nothing, and now the chests are guaranteed to have good stuff in them. I unlocked one chest on my way...
