I find Melandru to quite an energy hassle in PVE with eternal aura without proper e-management (from paras or necro). But maybe that's just me.

I dunno, we fall against smiting-buffed Melandrus from time to time on Lava Maps in GvG. Smite is not widely used, but not complete utter trash also.
