one or two quests here and there is not a problem ... in the end it will only cost about 1 extra night of death leveling
best "secondary" to get for war is unquestionably ranger...you get a pet and troll ungent

I guess I'll stick with it.... but I am a tad concerned.
Since I can't actually put any points into the controlling attribute for a secondary class.... the pet only ever does 1 damage... as far as I'm aware. I am planning on replacing the pet after I'm done with the whole process as it will indubitably end up "Hearty" ... and I'd like a Melandru's Stalker in post-searing.... But how much good is the pet if it only does 1 damage per attack and tends to aggravate my attempts at pulling individual charr out of their parties, or indeed pulling them over to respawn points? Plus Troll Ungeant is just 3 regen, lasts as long as it takes to recharge, but takes a good two seconds or so to activate...
I'm just wondering if those are better than any alternatives? I do tend to be sceptical of what I'm told quite often... unfortunately... (I had about similar luck playing with Mesmer skills, with the advantage that I could damage enemies from behind a wall using Conjure Phantasm, and Ether Feast vaguely worked... vaguely).
Anyway... I'll stick with Ranger for now since thats what I've been advised to do...

my pet does more than 1 dmg and serves as a nice tank ... it was nice up till level 13 where I stopped using him cause he tended to cause aggro when I didnt want him to and by level 13 clearing charr were no problem ....anyway you can always change secondary professions if you want something else (yes in pre ..., just abadon the secondary quest and go get another one) .... but ranger is the best . i guess troll really isnt too useful on a war with heal sig
MrSlayer
omg.
Since I dont speak the language you have setup there; does that contain 10 items that you can sell? or does it HOLD 10 items?
Can anyone tell me how easy it is to kill all the charr after DLing them up as a Monk Primary? What would make a good secondary?

I was duo-teaming with a Necro... and basically set him doing most of the damage while I tanked. It was a matter of just getting bleeding on an enemy, then standing and taking the flak, spamming Healing Signet and Troll Ungeant as much as I could. I'm Level 8 nearly level 9 now...
I'm not sure if I could tank the same way with Mesmer secondary, though Necro's Life Siphon might help. In any case, I'm staying Ranger for now as the pet is getting a bit better... both as a distraction and at doing a bit of damage. Doesn't mean he doesn't spend most of his time dead though... as he tends to prevent all my attempts at luring Charr by charging them head-on and refusing to come back.
I called him "Your Mother" ... for the hell of it... (he used to be called A I D S).
Sweet!
I'm gonna try and get Charr Bags for as many characters as possible. Major personal pride matter there!

If you're a lower level it's really hard to fight them by yourself - I'm level 11 and although I can kill them by myself now because I'm a neccie it tends to take a while. I still find it easier to pair up with a guildie and go kill stuff even though the XP is halved. Also takes a lot of the boredom out of it

SotiCoto
Oddly enough.... I find it easiest to pair up with an inexperienced PuG and go beat on them. Often enough the other person will die mid-combat, but not before giving me the chance to kill the Charr... hence netting me the XP exclusively (very selfish, I know).
More importantly though, as I noticed yesterday.... the more "experienced" folk are sometimes prone to throwing hissy fits and leaving if the other person won't do everything they say (especially when what they say doesn't make sense... e.g. "skip the first two groups" when every death means running past those groups without aggroing them... especially when they mean easy XP).... and furthermore... higher level characters often seem to act all elitist... I had a guy this morning refuse to kill Charr with me because I was level 9 and he wanted level 10+ characters (despite the fact that two level 7-9 characters can take down all the Charr in the area provided they know what they're doing).
As such... I'm sticking to less-experienced PuGs. Provided I'm the voice of authority and can tell them what to do at every stage (whether they're silly about it or not), at least they're generally enthusiastic.... aren't surprised when we die occasionally.... and will actually do something vaguely like what I need them to do (plus they don't complain if I get the kill after they're dead).

Heh, fair enough! This is the reason I'm sticking with guildies
Although if you see me hanging round pre and you're looking for someone to kill charr with, give me a yell. My char name may be Taff is Leet but I'm certainly not lol!

*Shrugs*
I don't have guildies. I'm a Ronin.
O'course I'm considering coughing up the 100 gold to make a guild of my own JUST to avoid being constantly bugged by fvcktards asking me to join their guild. Sometimes they'll even go so far as to invite me into a party JUST to ask me to join their Guild (rather than explore or mission or whatever).
Then again, I don't want to do that as I consider being a Ronin a mark of particular pride. I don't like the idea of having a stupid little tag on the end of my name.... but if I have to apply one just to escape those nagging guild-wh0res.... then sobeit.
Incidentally, nice character name, oh Wild-Fire ... [not talking about your Pre-Sear char]... ^_^

and the whole level 10+ although silly, is understandable since you can get to level 9 by just killin level 3s, you know that a level 10 has atleast SOME charr hunting experience, and its a nice round number

Oh and if anyone wants to charr hunt the names Your Just Jealous (I made it a long time ago, don't be offended o.-) and I'll hunt with anyone, provided we skip the first two groups and allow me all exp for bosses. (in return I'll give you any Charr bag that drops)

I have been thinking about the two titles L.suvivor an LdOa and how to get them both. ok in a team of 2 you get half the xp so if you have some one els to dlvl the moa bird's to lvl 20 then kill them couldn't you get it this way? I know it would take alot longer but you should get both of them

No... You can't get LDoA and Legendary Survivor. One cannot ressurect if his teamate is alive, thus, no deleveling this way.

Outstanding job. I'ma do it: Arnack the Leet.

Worse. They were the same level as me (as I recall around level 8 or 9 at the time). I just meant (by more experienced) that they'd played through Pre-Searing more than me (since all my other characters are Canthan).
I generally leave people higher than level 14 alone.... unless they're actually looking for someone to kill Charr WITH... in which case why aren't they doing it solo?
As for my complaining about other people ordering me about. I don't mind when it actually works and is sensible. If they're telling me to do things that are ultimately stupid (e.g. skipping on the easiest experience we'll get in the entire northlands, and continue carefully skipping it every single bloody time we'll die).... then I have issues with it.
Furthermore... this morning I ran into some folks who were absolutely set on doing things their own way.... One of them kept ignoring what I was doing... desperately trying to pull Charr from a really poor position... and it came to its worst point where I'd basically gone to kill some warrior-charr... he ran over to me, aggroing a huge group... got me killed... then just to rub salt in the wound he finished off the charr I'd been killing before dying himself. Oh... and the hair that broke the camel's back is that he got a fairly decent purple sword drop too (despite being a ranger).... and all I've had is bows (and I'm playing a warrior). He was sure he'd sell it for 3k, and wouldn't sell it to me for the far more reasonable price of 500g. ¬_¬ .... Bah... fvck 'em.
The OTHER guy I had to deal with would agree to attack a certain group... or even aggro them himself... then the moment I engaged, he'd run off and hide somewhere until I died.... At least he had the courtesy of saying something obscene about his sister as an excuse to leave after removing the patrols around the boss area.... so I was able to solo the bosses myself.
Thats pushing it a little. I mean by the way he was talking I'd imagine I've had more experience killing Charr myself than that guy. Level 14 he might have been, but apparently he has had other people kill the Charr for him to that level.
Heh.... funny.
Count me out. I'm level 10 now... and though the rest still give XP, I pretty much just clear them out of the way to reach the bosses (and they really are better off killed than ran past, as running costs more time in the long-run).

Just understand that its very frustrating when you either cant get anyone to let you out north, or cant get the other person to leave when you do. When your level 15 the difference between 16 exp per boss and 32 is big, sometimes I just agro charr, get 'em killed, forget about them. Plus dont you find it kind of ironic that you tell people what to do but complain when other people do the same? |

I've noticed something recently.
A good place to go to find people either seeking the title or already with the title..... is European German District 1.
I've often wondered why sometimes the Germans had more districts in certain places than the English (over the Canthan New Year event I saw at one point over 110 German Districts compared to the 70 or so English ones).
In any case though, just yesterday.... finding few people of any consequence in the English Districts, and trying to avoid someone in particular (who would find it easier to spot me in a lowly populated district), I switched over to the German District 1 ..... I immediately noticed there were a lot more people there... that there were many mono-class characters of higher level than 15 ... and at least one Legendary Defender of Ascalon... just standing around (warrior... next to a level 17 Necro too).
I suppose if anyone speaks German then that'd be the place to go for help.... theoretically.

You say it takes 3 hrs to get the moa to lev 20. I'm wondering since the ammount of time i'll be forced to spend afk is more like 6-8hrs is if the moa level beyond 20. Same w/ Charr, will they go beyond lev 20?

:O i've been aiming for level 20 ever since i saw the title and it's requirements on wiki. >_< Of course, i've only taken the time to do it now. The name of my defender of ascalon trainee is Anoielle Lunecoeur, and she's a necromancer.
i am curious about the death leveling with charr vs. death leveling with moas or other animals. Does anyone have a calculation for it? I am not that familiar with the difference.
Also, a clarification. Everytime i wish to respawn monsters over the wall, i would need someone to open the gate for me? Every single time i re-run?
Hopefully i won't go crazy waiting for the title to progress. Thank you to all the people who went through the trouble of writing guides and articles about this.
Is anyone currently aiming for this title? Anyone i can ask trainee-ish questions from? (just in case, i usually try to do it myself first before asking anyway... that and seeing the same enemies again and again gets to you... you start looking for someone to chat with. XD) X_X;;

Lies. Moa's take a while to get to 20. They can't kill you in like 5 seconds, unlike charr, takes just as long to level a moa as it does a full group of charr, but the charr will give you 4x as much exp (because there are 4x as many)
