Petition to Remove Title Requirement for GW:EN Armors

sure you should have to work for prestige armor. Oh wait...let's see. Get in a guild, get run to marhan's grotto or granite citadel, that's 4 elite armor sets right there...two for HoM. In Factions...do some missions, get to Leviathan Pits or VAsburg, or do all the missions and get to the divine path. Wowz. You still have to pay through the nose in plat and materials to get these armor sets. Same with the Norn, Dwarven, Asuran armor. You go through all this grind and still have to pay 50 plat plus stacks of materials to get this armor that isn't even unique.
What's the difference? Before GW:EN all you needed to do was explore a new area or do the missions and follow the storyline. Now, you need to repeat farm the same areas and junk and still pay a metric asston of cash...where's the prestige? Yay, I played 8 hours straight farming Varajar Fells so I could get this armor.
At least FoW was a challenge every single time you went into the UW or FoW for the materials to farm. At least the armor WAS unique enough that it was a real prestige armor set.
Now I can take my ranger to eotn, spend 8 hours farming idiot mobs with henchies and heroes and get an armor set that's almost identical to FoW armor, for a fraction of the price. This may seem like a contradiction of terms, but it's not. It cheapened FoW armor at the same time as cheapened the franchise of the game by rewarding the grinders over the casual players that this game was directed towards.

Play the game, do quests, enjoy yourselves. That way there is NO farming involved to gt armours. I only had to clear 2 areas to get rank 5 Vangaurd and that was maybe because i missed a quest or 2.
Dungeons help a lot as well as turning in your Book of Heroes and Master Dungeon Guide.
This way not every super rich or e-bayer can just go out and buy a run to the outposts and buy the armours.

also the armors look so bad that I don't really care if they require 10 or 1000 hours of grind, starter armor still looks better than starter armor reskinned by some amateur ;p

Play the game normally, explore the areas/ do the quests/ do dungeons/ play mini games. Eventually you will reach the title requirement at slower rate than those who farm points effectively.
People want to get prestige armors so easily to the point that it would make collector armor rarer than prestige armors. Id rather play Grind Wars than Clone Wars.

I attained rank 5 in dwarven faction just by completing the game and doing some dungeons during the journey.
I'm on r4 for all the other factions, without grinding/farming, just doing dungeons and playing.
What do you want? Get the armors as soon as you enter the area?
What's next? Putting all crafters in Boreal station 'cause "hey, it's boring to reach outpost X just to craft an armor"...
It's a game, what about playing it?
[sarcasm]
I'm gonna start a petition to put primeval armor crafter in Churrir Fields. Don't want to go thru NF with each char to get the primeval for each one of them...

As has been mentioned before, rank 5 is easily achievable. It's a lot easier to get to rank 5 of norn/asuran/ebon vanguard/dwarven title tracks then to get the ingredients to make your mini moa an incubator. Took me near 3.5 hours to get Skree wings and Bog Skale fins. Reaching the 5th tier of any of these title tracks doesn't take that long (if you've been following the storyline and killing beasties along the way)

I don't mind working for titles and I feel some grind is acceptable. I'm the kinda player who enjoys my achievements if I've really had to put some effort into em.
However, I just cannot bring myself to scrape walls for the cartographer titles. Having visited the areas many times, quested them, owned them, capped them, vanquished them etc. (and already around 92%) I really resent having to go through all over again in slow mo looking at walls. I really like to get some value out of my playtime, and weeks of tedium really does not cut it. Lord knows I have tried it, but after about an hour I just can't bear it any longer, and tend to go off the game for a few days.
I'd really love cartog. titles and I feel I deserve em since I have worked the areas thoroughly over and over. Please reward my skill and game-play instead of making me do something entirely non-challenging and pointless.

The current title requirement is fair imo. You don't need to max those titles to get armor. You'll have more than a year to reach the titles so it should be no problem, not even for casual players.

The grind has no purpose except to piss you off. How could anyone support it? Sure it's a couple days work for a character. What if you have 8 characters? Is 16 days work so menial?

I pretty much agree.
The armor crafter armors suck in the first place. The only armor that I like is the Norn Ranger armor. Seeing as Norn title farming is pretty easy, I'll just farm and keep quite. I don't like the fact that they've done the same thing they did w/ Luxon/Kurzick title faction for this. That's the real thing to complain about. Can't have max skills for everything unless you gave your life away.

That being said, I dont agree with taking the rank off completely, I do think that the rank req should be lowered by one on each. 4 is easy to get to with the given quests and hunting constantly while questing, 5 takes a lot of time and effort after the fact.

Too easy already. You seriously think that 16 days is too much work to outfit 8 characters?? It took me about 2 weeks to get max on SS and LB titles on 1 character, and I think those are my most meaningless titles because they were so easy that anybody coule get them without any real work.
Seriously, some people actually want to enjoy the game and do not want to be given everything. I have not spent any time grinding in EotN, but have been questing and I already have rank 4 Norn, and I still have more Norn quests to do! Rank 5 is way too low. And with all the drops, if you salvage everything, you will have no problem with materials. Sure, it was better balanced so that you would get the materials and rank requirement close to the same time when it was rank 7, but I guess nobody liked that. The game is not meant to get everything you want in a week. Then it would be boring.

My view is that if each rank requirement was dropped by one (so armour would need rank 4, not 5), most people would be happy.
Rank 4 is almost achieveable through the missions/quests alone and you just need to do a little bit of farming to make up the difference. Suddenly the repetative grind is mostly gone.
The other option would be to add a few repeatable quests with a sensible rep reward (or increase the rewards for the current quests, i mean most only give 250 rep).
Peace,

GW:EN is something for people, that don't get annoyed a a little bit of grinding, when you want to call it so, even when it isn't -.-
people which whine here cause of that stuff are all only somewhat of lazy bums ..., so in this case im the same opinion like my before posters
the first ranks are very quick reached in all race titles, primary quests are all redoable and give good points to the titleses, especially for the norn ..
do repeatedly the norn bear quest (500 points) and you raise so quick in ranks ...
go RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing killing monsters over 150+ and go then collecting bonus points from the npcs for other races 8asura/ human and you gain quick points too , when your good, you raise quick with a bit luck your gaining to 5 or 6 points per monster kill, which is maximum.
Due to the fact that the maps are big and filled with near like 200+ monsters u gain quick several hundred points per run, when your very lucky, you get even boss bounty bonus while killing normal monsters and when u kill then bosses while the bonus is again, u get 200 points direct per boss kill !!.
there exists even ther same bonus for normal monsters where u have to kill 10 monsters within 150 seconds, easily doen with right team/tactic and the luck, when enough monsters are in your near, when u receive the bonus, so that u have not too much to run for monsters.
dwarfs get points in dungeons, there the same, kill monsters and you gain quick points with some luck, primary quests that give points to dwarfs are the highest.
then an other way. complete those 2 books and give them to any race, you will receive 3000 points per book for the race you gave the completed books, after that the npcs will give you new empty ones that you can fill again by redoing dungeons and primary quests to give them again to a race book npc to receive again points for the race you gave the completed books ...
so stop whining, the points are cheap and quick gained, the max rank required points are very low and for making those titles more elite, the spaces between the ranks could be imo a lot higher, and then there could exists more ways to receive points ...
example: asura points for polymocking versus other players for wins
norn points for 1v1 pvp duels in norn arena
and so on
omg, when people are whinin now for this little shit, i don't want to know, how they start crying like little babies, when GW 2 is out and it "finally" becomes alot more like a classic MMORPG with alot more persistence and so on.
Don't forget, there are racial titles like these missing > charr title rank, sylvari title rank and the somehow promised next new races, developers have spoken of, that these ones are not the only new playable races in GW2 and that in future will come more.
*hopes for dwarfs, centaurs, fairys, tengus(avicaras), sylphs(mursaat), when the game has dwafs/centaurs, then elfs and drows don't may missing even when this is against very much players opinions , but fact is, these races are part of the classics, like dwarfs and centaurs too, when people would say now, elfs/drows don't fit to GW, then would dwarfs and centaurs don't fit either with their logic
I at least hope really, that the classical races will come, but thats an other kind of suggestion that is discussed somewhere else endlessly ...

Really, i think your post has actually managed to be one of the biggest whines i have seen in this thread and pretty much in no way constructive.
It sounds selfish, childish and very insulting to people who have posted without the need for swearing or near personal remarks and it is sad that you have felt the need to go to such lengths.
It is unlikely that the ranks will change, so we'll all have to grind, so you're probably quite safe, which is a shame for those of us with more than a one or two characters, but hey ho...that's Guild Wars.
Just as a final note, i would like to add that for the most part i do enjoy GW:EN and think it brought a lot of interesting things to the game and i will grind to Rank 5 for those few characters i want armour for regardless.
Phoenix Tears
loo,l people which simple want not to grind for 1 cent like those, that whine here cause of these laughable "high" ranks wish, as the thread is called, that there is no rank, that you can get the stuff direct, like on the campaigns.
really, when this is not lazy, then i dunno. when they would say: lower it by 1-2 ranks, fine (for me personally still lazyXD) but it would be acceptable, but not removing them totally.
theres no need to lower it or to remove it, people have even not to grind up to rank 4, you just need to play normally, make primary quests, side quests, use the race bonus npcs for killing monsters and u gain quick enough points + giving away completed books ...
the problem lies not in the "high" ranks, the problem lies in the people, which want to have every shit within 1 second of work !!!!.
They kil monsters for points and look then every minute, how much points they have now more oO see then, thats not very much more and think, how slow it goes, start then whining about having to grind till they are old grandpa/ma's
Thats so silly and thats really childish. When you simple have not the endurement to grind a bit for those armors, than simple LET IT.
NO ONE FORCES YOU TO GRIND FOR THEM.
In the end, when you've done it, its sor or so your personal opinion, if you think thebn, if all the work was it worth, or not.
But when you really want to have something, you don't whine, you simple do it, until you have,m what u want to have. POINT !!!
It was not different with the Obsidian Armors in prophecies, how much childish people have whined massively in the start, how hard it is to receive this Armor, how much you have to grind to get all the ecto plasm, the obsidian pieces and last but not least all the god damn money to buy the armors, when you want not to farm/grind ecto plasm, which were much more worth in the past, as they are now.
But people stopped whining, simple worked hard for the stuff they wanted and after some time they got their obsidian armors and were proud of their work.
its really god damn childish to whine now for this shit here, as if the world would going to its end, only because u've to grind a bit to be able to buy you the newer armors, which are much lesser worth then obsidian armors and need much much much.... LESSER effort to receive them.
so my last word is

Don't really care, though it convinced me not to get GW:EN on my second account as maintaining that many characters is too much work with too little reward.

I mean, lots of people here said that they don't want to remove rank required for crafting but to make it available another way- for example, adding more quests with +rank reward.
But this guy somehow managed to ignore everything and continue with his crappy rant.
I don't know if there's a cure for this. I'm sorry.

Then come up wishes like "remove this, remove that ..."
Like here: people have to grind a bit, so that they are able to buy the new armors, directs comes up the wish "remove it totally, so that it becomes like buying normally armors on all the other campaigns"
But then the armors will totally lose their little bit of "speciality" and just become 0815-Armors like all others except obsidian and Elite Ones ... only with the fact, that they cost then a bit more money.
======
other point. when you didn't saw the little "sarcasm" in my sentence, that you've quoted, then it's not my fault, it's yours ...
Sure, lots people said they don't want remove it, but when I did wrote the stuff, I looked only at the topic of this thread and the opinion of its thread starters, which wants to remove it totally with this petition.
When I#ve overseen now something, then its my fault, but that can happen, im no machine , I'm a human and humans make failures..don't forget that
More quests are naturally a solution for lesser grinding, but I haven't seen
yet Anet giving us new free quests, other then with the furnish's sorrow update and I personally don't believe, that Anet makes somethign like this again to implement for free new areas and filling them with dozens of new npcs, which give out new quests, even when i wish me that really too, because there are again somewhat of much fields in the GW.EN map parts, which are totally unused -.-, which cold be used as a little furnish sorrows update 2, witzh new quests and a new elite place, because i really think GW:EN is not really an add on for elite players, even when monsters are all like level 24-28, but due to the bonus buffs, GW:EN is nearly a joke.
id really love to see a big elite area where party size is 16, where the party really has to be so big, to be able to survive and where the party can make then elite-quests, which give then very good amounts of race points for titles to lower the part of grinding for the higher ranks of rank 4-5+
Quests, people could then only start, when all members of the party are at least rank x-x
However, Anet will surely find a solution for this, but removing the conditions from armor npcs is none imo.
Curraheeec
/not-signed, I obtained r5 for all parties within a week, but I understand the concerns of many. IMO, I believe the handbook and the dungeon guide should be worth 5k each instead of 2.5k and there should be more rep point related quests.

like 70% is much uglier then any existin elite armors from the 3 campaigns, + that GW:En should give imo 80 new armors, not 40 ..
for me, these 40 armors are so ugly, that they don't deserve to be called elite armors, there should imo exist 40 another, armors, which weild then the prefix "Elite" in front and which look then too like elite armors.
The work you need to make for those armors isn't either hard enough to call these armors "high end"
I'd expected for so called high end armors something alot more harder, then this little bit of grinding, something more similar to the obsidian armor, thats really 1 high end armor, because you have really to work hard for it to receive the armor pieces to get a complete armor..
compared to obsidians, the racial armors are a big joke !!
and from high end armors, i expect pve wise somehow, that they are a bit better, then any normal armors, which can receive any noob within some days ... when calling sokmething high end, or better said "epic", then the stuff should it be worth to be called so .... that are the racial armors imo by far NOT

The more you play, the more you have, that's simple. Otherwise the game wouldn't be worth it.
Don't forget, HM is still to come.

I dont really care for grind, but if the armor was original and leet looking like all end game armor is supposed to look like, i wouldnt mind the grind to get my armor. Buttttt..... since all the armor basically sucks or dissappointing, i could care less if they remove the title requirement or find an alternative way to obtain them. Cheers and Enjoy to all who wants that crappy stuff (imo) !

If I beat the game I should be able to access these re-skinned bags of garbage. heck.
I WAS THE MAJOR REASON WHY I GOT THE MISSING VANGUARD BACK! SHOULDNT THAT BE ENOUGH TO TALK TO THE ARMOR GUY NOW? IS THAT NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU? I RISKED MY LIFE TIME AND TIME AGAIN FOR CONSUMABLES?
edit: and why do people think HM will improve the grind situation? IMO it wont. HM I think will only let you reach the top title. I believe it will still only give 1 point per kill. Which hey if you want to grind 100k more points then go ahead, it's your pointless life you're wasting.
I just would like it to be more gratifying that once you helped them out they would give you access to their stuff. It would make MUCH more sense
Arcanis the Omnipotent
I really dont think this fighting is really neccissary, as history speaks to the future it is almost certain Anet will at some point do a "Double Norn Point weekend" or something like that. And for each race eventually. Or possibly even a Double Rep weekend. Double for each kill, and double for each bonus.

otherwise the armour would become something like Droks armour with lv2s wearing it...proves you have taken some times / effort in getting it rather then just hiring someone to run to the crafter NPC

As much I hate mindless grinding.

Seriously, no lv 2s with rep armour...
How about:
Don't remove it. Have the requirement of that you must have cleared the game for that character.
Or lower it to r3 or maybe r4. That's approx how much you have when you've done all quests, maybe turned in the two books.

I hate pve as much as it is. My monk should be able to purchase what she wants, when she wants it. This title bullshit is exactly what it is. Is if I wanted to grind mindlessly, I'd go get r2 KoaBD.
