The Xunlai Marketplace thread

I know that January and February are kind of a slow month for business and online activity. Usually after New Years. But i havent even seen a post by Gaile or any other dev for that matter since the "117". We were usually getting some info or at least a hello every week or so. It wouldnt crush my hopes to say the market is nothing. But it would be nice to have any future updates, news, screenshots, ect... to be told to us for a hype factor or a sense of advertising. Something to look forward to.

Be realistic, anet doesn't care what we think they'll do, they're gonna do what they're gonna do, apparently w/o informing us right away.

If information on Marketplace was purposely taken out of the dat, then we know the following.
1.Anet knows we know.
2.Anet doesn't want to admit we know its real, thus taking it out of the .dat
3.Gaile and Andrew both confirm they have heard, but give no information and ignore requests to hear additional information.
The company trapped itself into a corner, and is going to ignore everything we talk about on this subject until it is released or announced.
Its real.

Oh, and don't get your hopes up on certain features (won't mention any by name) that were stumbled on. If we are adding anything new, you guys will know of it when we're good and ready for you guys to know!"
Yeah, something like that. A playful hint that doesn't say yay or nay, and with no promises to be broken if they choose not to finish it for whatever reason. Ya know, something, anything!

They just go the "nothing happened" way. We can't track it's progress anymore but there can be a whole lot of possible scenarions. It may be coming soon, final version may be quite different than what the strings suggested, or it may be a long time project, or the development stopped leaving it unfinished till some more resources will be freed, or even it might be that the project failed miserably and is completelly scrapped.
And they won't confirm nor deny anything like that ever existed so we won't know anything.

Now.....just wait for the MiB agents to come to your door and flash their memory wipe thingy on you
Anyway, removing it from the .dat is extremely suspicious.

It's possible that the data we were seeing was the content they were debugging. That's finished, so the strings were removed.
Nonetheless, we are currently out of the loop until we find more clues. And maybe that's the way ANet wants it.

Maybe there temporarily added it to GW1 to test 'the system' for GW2.
And it would be added only to GW2.

It makes sense that they don't want the community to jump to conclusions based on fragmented info, it would only create false expectations. People are already discussing what they DON'T want in the marketplace update, and that is certainly not the way to introduce new features. Be happy that you know that you are going to get it ... some time.

They'd let us know right away if this wasnt gonna happen.
As for us, GW isnt the most positive community. If this got out of hand without them letting us know, hundreds of threads would pop up made by angry people.
If we dont get any official word on this in 7 days, ima start betting money it'll happen. (I have no one to bet against though).

Well do we know how long this has been in development?
Who knows it could be ready by Canthan New Year 08, or it could be Wintersday 08, but that will be waaaaay to late.

Speaking of Canthan New Year . . .
That would be the ideal time to announce it, but shouldn't the New Year be this coming Thursday (2/7)? That's Chinese New Year, and last years Canthan New Year matched up. I would have thought we would have heard SOMETHING about the celebration for the Year of The Rat by Now. Do you think it may have been delayed?
Anyone find any text strings for the Festival?

Anet removed strings week ago to what ... add them back or confirm that they were legit next week ? Unlikely.
anet has still DWC weapon skins to add to game for example, and they have enough stuff to make festival big event without big announcements.

I'm still expecting this to have been a test that they decided not to implement in the end.

Actauly it seems they have been strangley silent lately. Not even the other forum is getting much out of the devs.
I hope this means they are preparing for something.

Unless, they first deployed it silently to doublecheck if they got everything preapred correctly on live servers/ (admirable thing to do, and necesary unless they wanted to risk broken feature and QQ on forums) and then purged files in preparation for reall deployment
Hope never dies, eh.

I’d be very surprised if they introduced this now.
So much speculation once again that will come to nothing.

We never know anything and we are still the same, just speculation. We only know that "There is garbage in the gw.dat file".
Vitas
No one has found anything new that I'm aware of on the Marketplace in the dat file. I didn't expect anything XMP for New Year, but if I'm wrong, they are waiting till the last minute to add it.
Silly Warrior
This was a wake up call to the Dev team, although they will never confirm this.
Chances are we will never find Pre-released content ever again, unless history somehow repeats itself.

Uh cool won't use it but uh cool.

If this was to happen, Canthan New Year sounds like the most logical time to release it.
From a Lore perspective, the Xunlai did originate from Cantha, so it makes sense that a new service would be made available during the biggest festival of the Canthan year.
From a Dev perspective, heaps of players will be online this weekend, so word will spread quickly and it would make a good stress test.
I'm not going to get my hopes up, but I will keep my fingers crossed.

While I love the idea that we may get a marketplace, i have to disagree about the time to release it.
An event weekend is the WORST possible time to release any new feature as large as this would be. As if every single festival/event is not as laggy as it could possibly be already ( to the point that some have been extended to compensate), you think that adding this kind of feature to it would be a good idea?
I want this to be true as much as anyone else here, just not right in the middle of Lagfest08, oops i meant canthan new year.

Also remember that some of the 'Party Animal' content was still available before it's official announcement but after they removed XMP stuff.
