rollerbeetle racing highscore cheating?

as i suggested..the whole concept of SBR should be changed..as this Minigame is in its momentanous state, its just cheap broken crap, which is just way to laggy and too unbalanced to let this minigame be "skill based", other then perma "luck based".
This tiny bit of knowledge you need in this minigame is just the points, where it is best to use dashes and rams and where the boxes are all to calculate for you the best route to miss mostly none box on the road to ensure you the best chances to get eventually SB/Echo combos.
But I'm personally sure, there are also some hidden shortcut bugs or so, maybe at this dumb clipping spiral poin, otherwise I can#t absolutely understand, how these guys in the top 100 get ever higher than 470+ or so...
The absolute average, with only 1 SB is around 444, with Sb and echo maybe around 455, as logn u don't get rubberbanding/kd'ed btw both together, what is most annoying, when you get kd'ed, whiele you are lagging ....
The system about 3 core skills and 5 unlockable randomous skills is just crap...RBR should be based on normal skill system, with energy cost, reload times and cast times and let the player use all their skills, whenever they want !!!
Then..ONLY then you can really speak of "skill" in this minigame, because then will win only the skilled players, which know when to use which skills best and for which situation the skills are best and can also e manage them self good enough to not run out of energy in the middle of the race, when its important to you to have some to use your skills.
Also the battles should be more about fighting..not about knock downing only each other. instead of knockdowns, the players shoudl be only able to slown down others

Yes the results would be random, but random results in which the whole playerbase has a chance to fairly compete with each other on an even playing field is a lot better than how it is now.

Shiing!
This is my opinion: Luck is the only factor. Echo SRB is the only way to get onto the records (it must be, come on).. The people on the record board are lucky - there may be a certain amount of skill (knowing when to use buffs, etc) but nah. They're lucky.

If I remember what Yuris told me last year (and the run like this I saw), he posts about a 473k with just an echo.

I have been rollerbeetle racing since the event started. I've played 120+ games. There were a few games I received three SRB's and had NO KD's. My speed meter was virtually full the whole length of the track. Heck no else had time to finish before they got DCed.
My best time was 462000. Now you can tell me the game is luck based, because it is. Try to explain to me how the same people have 30+ spots in the top 100 in 12 hours worth of time with scores upwards of 480000, and things get ugly. I'm not trying to be a poor sport here, but how can anyone pull off something like that without cheating? I'm not sure how they do it, and we'll most likely never know, but if you want my advice...
Don't waste your time. Just play for fun...because the odds are certainly stacked miles high against you. It's a shame really, if the game was based on number of games played or average score after the event was over...
All I wanted was one little beetle.
EDIT: Congratulations to those of you that hit the top 100 and don't have a dozen times up there. I wish I had your scores! Maybe I'm just very unlucky, who knows!

I do believe it's knowledge of the course and certain intricacies, but I won't go so far as to say it's "skill".

E.G, iF someone he can make a Regular dash last "longer" (Make him go bit faster, and stretch it out) it is concidered exploiting, because it ISN'T documented everywhere, not even by devs, and thus it is concidered an unwanted/unintended effect, aka an exploit...
I know for a FACT, the fastest way to get out on the start is by using Ram + Shield, and the millisecond ram ends, press Dash. I'm always first out with +- "Nearby" or even "Earshot" between me and the second guy. However, this can be seen as abusing an exploit, because it shouldn't be. Logic tells us that no matter where you try your speed buff, it should always give the same ammount of boost (Skill description), and if it doesn't (And it doesn't, because my method obviously is the fastest one) than the skill description are incorrect, and it needs to be explained somewhere on HOW the speed buff's work exactly, thus ending up in giving EVERYONE a fair chance...

I have pretty much been able to get around 450-460 consecutively, highest was 467 from knockdowns/ dumb luck and 4 supers at the end.
I have actually learned more and figured out how to use momentum a bit better, still wish I could observe some of the higher ranks to see exactly how they can do this and get 470+ consecutively.

It is most definitely NOT the fastest start if you measure it by:
1) how fast you hit the water boxes and have the potential to achieve echo/SRB
2) carrying the best possible speed through the entire course.
The start you described is not imbalanced. It's a solid, consistent option, but it's not the only way to skin the cat and I'm certain that no one currently in the top 10 plays it with any regularity. (At least, they haven't when I've been paired with them.)
The largest balance problem IMO is that some beetles are faster than others at the start due to the slope of the terrain. Also, the beetles at either end get some protection from Ram that the other beetles don't get, meaning that they generally can save their Shields for later. This enables additional options at the start out of those gates.

Experiment. Use split times. I have several course landmarks that I keep track of, and I know that "if X, I should hit landmark A at time Y." This permits me to tweak what I'm doing slightly and see if I achieve better times overall (as well as determine why). You have to use multiple locations; if you just keep track of one, you may decide that something makes you faster when it really doesn't. Your "imba" start is an excellent example of this. Is it a good start? Absolutely. Does it make you faster overall? Not necessarily. If you can get away cleanly without having to use that start, you'll post better times. I guarantee it.

Remember the big deal about the groups that used the "Hidden outpost" for mallyx? I wonder if there is something like this they have found for thee races that they use to get on the list so many times. Just a thought...

Ouija Board
An old guild-mate of mine linked me to this thread, and I have a few things to clear up.
I personally haven't seen any of the top racers on what they do at certain parts near the end of the map, but I have seen what they do at the beginning and it all varies. My particular strategy is to ram right outside of the gates and put up harden shell at the 1st wooden pole. I then use dash on the 2nd to last wooden pole. 9/10 times (assuming I didn't get knocked down or rubberbanded), I'm in front of the pack and I usually aim to cross Checkpoint 1 around 18 seconds.
The spiral bridge, makes or breaks potential top 100 scores. If you make one error or lag hits you at a bad time during the stretch from checkpoints 5-7, then that can make a significant difference in your final score. I'm pretty sure some top racers who have gone on a potential 480+ run have fallen victim here.
What color beetle you are does not matter IMO on how it will affect your score. I was GREEN, arguably the worst color to be, when I got one of my 480 scores this weekend.
There are no exploits or cheats to attain top scores. Some old HA guildies/buddies can vouch for me. What I tell most people is getting a top 100 score is 80% luck (getting echo-beetle early on and not getting KD'd/lagspiked) and 20% skill (knowing where to use dash/ram and avoiding potential dangers by using harden shell and d-lunge right after a person behind you crosses a box). I personally stop trying for a top score if I don't get a echo or beetle on the first box on top of the hill.

Yes, that spiral mountain is annoying as heck. I really don't know how you can get past it unless you have a super beetle right there for that part.

Some info..
None of the people in the top 100 "cheat"
The people you see with multiple top 100 scores play beetleracing several hours a day at the very least during each event it has been available.
They have studied how skills work in different situations to create the best possible times.
If you watch them, they will stop if they get kd'd or do not receive the correct power-ups to get top 100 scores.
Also, to the people saying they are syncing, try syncing in 6 people into beetleracing at the same time and see what happens. The chance of ANY of you getting on the same team is low, I can't imagine what the odds of 6 people getting on the same team are. Even IF you had 6 friends in one race you would still need the correct boosts to get top 100 scores.
Beetleracing is all about knowing where to use skills and playing enough matches to receive the correct power-up combos.

I Spent ALL weekend on this event for the mini beetle.
I manage to get 1 super roller, I echo it. When those two speed boosts are finished I'm 1 min faster than the rest of the group then i get another super roller. I get to the bridge part where there is a glitch and im only at 1:10 (which is good....so far). Then I go slow up the little curvy hill part....yet when im at the finish my record is 2:23 and yet I only get 450,992! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE. even when im at 2:30, I get at least 447,023...Now this is strange and pisses me off like crazy...

I can get 450+ without echo or SB now easily if I dont get KD etc. So it seems ping plays a much larger factor than I first thought. With the 250+ ping I usually get it makes it very hard to gauge opponents, water, etc...
At least I get a ton of gamer points
At first it seems like some kinda hax, but practice (years past I assume) + low ping I can see how it's possible now.

It's synching. Pretty sad. I've gone up against people in the 100 ranks. Many go untouched while their friends harrass anyone not part of their little clique. Got KDed 12 times in one race, while no one else got TOUCHED. I also got body blocked numerous times while the main guy is left to speed ahead. Of course there are legit winners who deserve the spot in the top 100, but if you think all of them do then you obviously haven't played the mini-game enough to see just how desperate people are to win.
This has been reported last year numerous times and this year numerous times, but it seems ANet doesn't care since it's just a mini-game with a mini-pet for a reward. Not like this is serious PvP or anything...

i've been victom to syncs too -_- .... Body blocking, and numerous KD's , heck i was almost last, and got KD spiked by three other people... Its either a sync, or people like to knock down the people at the back of the race, and not the guy infront of you...
other than that odd race, i love beetle racing . Too bad i rubber band too much to take getting into top 100 all that seriously :/ .
