Chest farming eh..sounds interesting...

The problem right now with farming is that items that are "needed" can be tightly controlled by the rich. However, this can be solved if they instead shift the high price items from those that are "needed" to those that are "wanted", aka really really nice goldsinks. For example, some possible gold sinks:
- Glowing Dye
- Reflective Dye
- Transparent Dye
- Weapon Dyes
- Wing attachment (upgrade component to headgear, shows wings on the helmet)
- Ornament attachments (stuff you can put on your armor to make it look more spiffy)
- More rare weapon models (Katana, bastard sword, icy dragon sword, flaming axe, etc)
Stuff like dwarven ale are really useless because it doesn't allow PvE players to "show off."

Someone mentioned it elsewhere, but I think it would be cool if you could choose to have a "town" set of clothes. And you could buy different clothing items, just to get that real sense of "living" in this world.

Shoot, if you want a permanent gold sink, make people buy and carry provisions that get used up when out of town or your health goes down. More expensive provisions last longer, etc.

ive been farming divinity coast for about 2 hours,maybe 5 hours if you count actually selling the stuff (ive gotten 60k)
and i wanted to tell that killin the mobs doesn't affect the barrels drops...neither does zoning in and out.

Things like runes and weapon upgrades should not ever be a high priced item, because this game was built on pvp balance and thus items that are needed for competitive pvp should be available to everyone at obtainable prices.
However, doing so would completely alienate the crowd that likes to accumulate wealth and show it off. Thus, gold sinks would need to appeal to this group of people but without tipping the balance of the gameplay. Hence the goldsinks must be graphical in nature. Currently we have things like Fissure armors, Storm/Eternal bows, Eternal Axes, Dragon Swords, etc. By shifiting high prices away from "needed" items and onto "wanted" items, we'd be able to please both the functional and the aesthetic crowd.

I totally agree, and this is why I feel we need things like nifty clothing items. When in doubt, go for the aesthetics!

its not going to get nerfed unless Bots start farming that area, which is just a matter of time since they are making their way around the map everytime their current spot gets nurfed. Posting here will not make a diffrence. Just dont bot the area and it will be good. And no, just running back and forth will not get you banned. Anet does not just ban people because they "think" someone is bottin, they have to have some kind of proof - otherwise they will have lawsuits coming out of their behinds.

the divinty coast spot is amazing...drops golds and purps so fast. got 2 rare crystalline swords, and a 30 hp staff head ... and a good staff
marhans grotta spot is not as good, rarely get a gold or purple, but its so close and easy to do

Divinity Coast, by the way...they added enchantment removers and tengu elites around the barrel, not mentioning the army of oak guys that appeard recently near the spot... About the drops: yes, there are purple and golden items sometimes but rarely they contain upgrades, they are basicly vendor junk. Again, I can tell you, just clear Talus Chute with henchs for better money/xp.

There's a wreckage just near Sanctum Cay, I think you have to do it with the mission, but it gives relatively good drops
directions: when you get off teh boat take teh sceptor of orr (just for the energy boost)
and follow the path, once you get to the beach kill all the drakes and move near the ghost man. right next to him is the wreckage!

Um are we really talking about the same spot sunyi? I mean i can get like 20 Very good weapon mods + 2-4 crystalline swords in 1-2 hours ...you can just run past the oak guys and the tengu "elites" as you called them arent hard to come buy just lure em away and get yoursled killed so that you ressurect up on the hills AND there arent any enchantment removers there !

I found a strange spot a little bit south of Fisherman's Haven. If you are walking along a certain patch of the little hills there, a sack of gold drops out of nowhere in front of you with anywhere from 100-250 gold in it. I think it's more trouble than it's worth, though, because there are inferno imps all around there, and it takes at least 2 tries to get to it, for me at least. 
I've already /bugged it, so it may be gone pretty soon.

Arena.net just loves this thread. All those people spilling out their secret farming spots. I'll lean back, keep my spot my secret and watch every other spot getting insanely nerfed, just like it happened with every spot before that got public.

Feli, you do realize that if all the other farming spots get nerfed, it will only be a matter of time before the botters discover yours. All spots will eventually be nerfed, it is inevitable. But I still encourage you to farm it, right up until the update.

No divinity coast havent been nerfed....oh well there has popped up 3 lvl 16 tengus there but they are easy to get around

Ok So felt a little bored today so i decided to do the divinty coast barrel run 50 times and draw up a tally chart of the weapons i found, here are my results,
White - 45
Blue - 34
Purple - 24
Gold - 11

39.5% of drops were white
29.8% of drops were blue
21.1% of drops were purple
9.6% of drops were gold
I think the spot has been nerfed, because I used to get a gold every 2-3 drops. The second time I went out I had 2 golds drop.

Yea i think it has been nerfed TODAY towards the last 15 runs i got no golds and all whites was a bit strange, but in the first 10 runs i most of got like 5 golds.
