Rujiyo! (Mini-Missions)
Kidney Licker
Instead of 50 orbs I think the reward should be changed to 250 festival tickets.
That would bring a "festive" spirit to the mission and actually give people a reason to redo the mission.
I heard that lvl 28 grasps have a terrible gambling habit, and frequently get fleeced by Charmed(1) players.

I understand what you are saying. Couldn't we form some sort of compromise? Me (the player who is not 1337) fight the minions with relatively difficulty, and you go for the bosses, who are insanely strong? That would make the game in Cantha a bit more fun for me. Not even the graphics can compell me there. These towns are boring and ugly.

2. I can understand you not being amazing at the game, but the fact you are playing as an assassin doesnt help. assassins are very hard to play correctly, so right there you are making thinsg more difficult for yourself. You are fighting level 28 monsters, with out being fully leveld and useing a class thats hard to play.
3 Cantha has a steper leveling curve so you get to the hard stuff more quickly. the game itself is not harder then chapter 1, but a larger portion of the game is high level.
your last comment is also very strange, (about the better player taking on the boss) If a group is good and they know what they are doing you dont split up like that you dont go off and fight something alone, thats why you have a team.
My advice to you is, just go to tyria for a bit and learn your class better, or pick a class to learn for now thats alot easier for some one thats not a master to handle.

See... another thing I would like to mention is that Guild Wars has an emphasis on TEAM PLAY. This mission is meant to be completed by four high-level experienced players (i.e. people that have taken the time to beat at least one of the two storylines). The mission isn't that hard (well, it is in places) if you are in a group that knows what they are doing.
The game is only as hard as the people you play with cause it to be.
And not everything in this game should be like Dodgeball Arena, where everybody is equal, everything dies in one shot and everybody is happily dancing without any clothes on (sorry to say). Some things do require a certain level of effort to accomodate for those players who have passed the tests of the rest of the game and are looking for a bit higher challenge in their game.

Man, if you got festival tickets for that, I would so repeat that mission.
Malchior Devenholm
So close to beating the mission in the Jaya Bluffs area...team had the Temple Rift and the End of Cave rift to go.....then it happened......
007 FTL!
Anyone got a Screenshot yet to confirm if there a new green out here?
I saw no bosses, so *if one existed* It'd probably have to drop from those claw things...

What if this mission with a crapy reward was just a preview of something simillar to the tombs that will be implanted after the event, with real rewards this time? Or we're missing something I guess...

Haven't read through all 15 pages so sorry if this has been asked/answered already but:
Is there just the one new mission which takes you to the Lagoon area? Just completed it not long ago and there was some message about "taking you to Next Mission.." it counted down and then just ended up in Shing Jea again.
Talking to the Captain repeated the same mission again. Missing something here? Bug?

Just to simplify things for those complaining. You can go play a different game. Bubye.
Seriously though, you didn't buy Factions knowing there was going to be a dragon festival and if you did you didn't know there was going to be this mini mission in the first place. My point: Whatever made you buy is what you can focus on and you can play or NOT play this mini mission. It's hardly something to cry about.
Do I think 50 orbs is a good reward? No... So do I cry and blame A.net for all my problems. No.. I go and do something ELSE that I enjoy.
Sadly this post wont stop one of the people from Whining but I seriously am not trying to be confrontational and hope at least one person will really try and look at things from that perspective. That way YOU can try and have a more positive attitude about the game and this crazy mini mission.
---- Back to Rujiyo's Mini Mission: Still looking forward to a green. I wonder if A.Net though seriously meant for them to be lvl 28. I was thinking they may have not lowered the level and accidently put in the wrong ones. That was just my first thought.
I'm also looking forward to what all this means. Speculations??
If it's a new area where do you think it would? Would it be like Sorrow Furnace or more like UW and FoW? With this new mini-mission has anyone thought more about the finale and possibilites that involve them?
PLEASE let me know your throughts.. maybe we can get the fourm back on track.~

Listen, if ANet didn't give us this mission, we wouldn't have anything to complain about, because we can't DEMAND content from them.
However, they did attempt to produce this mission, and by all reports they fell flat on their face. Until and unless there is something else to this, it's trash, and this information really doesn't help those who don't visit forums and are wasting hours of their game time trying to do this thing...

Just after my group got down to 3/8 left in the Lagoon and were ready to tackle it one more time to complete it, now that we've learned when and where guys spawn from the ground, they change it to a different in in the Bluffs. Yeah. Alt-F4ed did I.
lyra_song
Is the Bluffs one as hard as the Lagoon one? :3
Renegade ++RIP++
ugh its harder ...
and i noticed it rotates during the day. so many hours access to x, so many to y.
Never gotten futher then killing the first damned rift. Dumb patrols come from nowhere joining into the popups...
group was:
w/me
illusion mesmer (me/mo)
healing monk
water ele
little bugs like pulling 1 mob it triggering the popup of other mobs without even agroing it...
or annoyances of attacking a pop upped group and seeing 1 patrol that you haven't seen before all of a sudden attack you from front while another one a couple secs later comes on charging in from the rear... good luck surviving that .
Tried a couple times, then i gave up. With 6 people i could see it maybe being manageable, but with 4 ugh to damned hard for noobie me.

Lol, I like it that they change maps from time to time. Makes it less boring at least difficult. Just think about it: if it wasnt challenging, it would just be boring.
Anyway, I did Lagoon with my warrior. I am confidend that you dont have to learn all spawns by heart. Just remember the rules:
1)Always watch radar
2)Stay at least 1.5 bubble behind warrior, when HE explores, watch radar for this
3)Always watch radar
4)Warrior explores, he watches radar for studying patrol groups
5)All stay back while warrior pulls enemy group with preferably flatbow, or else longbow. Warrior shouldnt aggro them with bubble. Pull enemies back to a place that you know is safe. IF they dont come to you because they are ranged, DONT go to them, because probably there are grasps beneath the grass/snow.
6) On radar, warrior draws lines where others should stay behind. Ping (ONCE) when you suspect popups in an area.
7)Warrior should try to bodyblock enemies. Group them together for a Nukers wet dream.
8)When facing larger groups, try to pull them back a lot about 1x radar. Usually this splits a group of 5 into 2 and 3. Only go back to areas already cleared. Also try to split groups from their Torment Claw, since it cant move.
9)And dont forget to watch the radar for popups.
I'm not sure about the attack order, but I prefer, both Ele kinds, then the both mesmers, then grasps, then torment claws.
Since warriors get blinded and crippled, but also need to tank, I went for the following skillset:
HS, Illusionary Weaponry, Riposte, Deadly Riposte, Defensive stance, Shield Stance, Dolyaks Signet, I will survive.
I Will survive is awesome vs grasps. You can solo them quickly if you use Rip, Dead rip and IW. Both Ele type of monsters will trigger the Rips, because they are melee damagers as well. These skills will still damage when you are blinded. The rest of the stances are enough to deflect the most of the damage. Make sure when you aggro eles that are casting Meteorshower, just to sidestep when they finish casting it.
Edit: just want to stress out once more: warriors dont charge into groups that are ranged attacking you, so that you run into anm area that you are not certain about. Thats just stupid, we use the same pulling tactics on computer AI, and you are falling for it as well!!

Lol, you mean you all this time no one’s thought about a four man tombs group? And Captain Rujiyo’s two new quests are supposed to be challenging? I don’t see the difference, other then landscape so yes I would call it redundantly boring.

And I have no problem with people saying they wish the reward was better. I wish it was too. My problem is "omg dis sucks like how am i suppose to do this it's crap and rewards omg" is not a constructive way to handle it. I am bascially suggesting people just relax a little more. If it was mean I wanted to say something it would be more like
"Wow this mission seem too hard for only 50 orbs. A.net should consider increasing the reward for this mission. The first time I tried I died in like 5 second lol."
Even something like that is more light hearted but instead people get all into. "This why my opinion is right" attitudes. But some people have a good attitude about it.. however most dont.
(( I still would like to see the weapon and hear opinions of what will happen next? ))

Now what's the problem with this mission? Yes it has crappy rewards, and then? If you don't like it, don't play it, it's not mandatory lol.
Guildmaster Cain, very true post. I monked this mission and that's exactly how we proceeded to beat it. We had a very good tank (I mean: someone who can aggro all the mobs of a group around him so the casters are not attacked, and the mobs of only one group), me as a monk (a condition remover is mandatory for the warriors, and enchantments are useless), a SS disconected after the 4th rift, and a genial Rt set communing. Actually, I'm sure this mission could be completed with 1 warrior, 2 Rt (1 communing/spirits and 1 restauration) and someone else (no monk).

For the record, the Bluffs is MUCH HARDER
It's not as open as the lagoon-so you cant just hop around on whatever trail you want to reach the rifts. Also, the Bluffs features some nasty groups near the ending rifts, the little temple area rift has about 6-8 creatures + one of the shadow claw things *cant remember name*
And the rift at the end of the cave has 6 creatures in a VERY tight area, wrath MS pwn ouch!

Yeah that's why I love communing Rt there: spirits like Displacement, Shadowsong or Shelter help a lot.

Heh-was doign just fine wiht me as tank,SS,nuke, monk

Sir Mad, thank you for your kind words. I also tried with a Rt Spiritspammer build, which is nice, since spirits damage ignore armor. Furthermore, you can finally put the non-stop blind on the grasps themselves. ^^
Anyway we died without a serious try. A good group still stands or falls due to the tanks attitude.
@Malchior, though I didnt find time to do bluffs yet seriously, still it doesnt sound much more challenging. As with the group of 5, a group of 6 can still be split nicely. Dont forget to pull them back to safer areas. Or use the tight area to MS them instead.

More on topic, I wanna see this green toooooo Oh and I get the feeling the missions work like this,
start at lagoon:majority of people lose
move to jaya: majority of people win
back to lagoon: people win
stays at lagooneople lose
back to jaya: people lose
TADA! next mission
kinda like ABs just a thought.

Greens? Orbs? How about credit towards a title for high level content (eg. these Rujiyo quests, Tombs, UW, FoW, etc) completion?
Either way, I love the new content. Thank you anet! ^^

IMO they were both very easy...just finished Jaya Bluffs, no greens, but two golds dropped. 15/-10 armor gemstone axe and +5^50 energy wand
Jaya acctually went by much faster, but that was probably just because we had Jerrypants spitefuling instead of a b/p

This Mini-Mission is fun and challanging for the more experienced players. Still the final reward just is not worth it. I know there have been rumors of a new greeny wich would totaly make it worth it but there is no confirmation on it yet.
I ask all players who like to do the quest to go out there and own it. And keep an eye out for that green and if you find it please post picture(skin+stats).
As for all who dont like to do it just don't. You are not in any way forced to play it.

I accept the fact i can't beat the mission, but i can't accept the fact that they seem to have purposely made the choice to exclude alot of people from all of the events in the festival. it's akin to being back in grade school and time comes for an activity that not everyone can do, so they send the special kids out to make macaroni art while everyone else is learning to write in script. i don't like being a "special" kid or having it pointed out to me that i am one

What this quest is, is something that gives higher level characters something that's actually challenging. Because honestly, killing level 5 enemies on those orb quests seemed like more of a chore than something fun to do. I don't really see how you can say that "a lot of players are excluded from all of the events" when this is the only one that's even remotely difficult.
Kijik Oni Hanryuu
well said ephekt, I still need to find a way to log on and do the orb quests, with my lvl 20 sin, then i will try the missions.

I just hope if it happens they won't invade the game area or we'll have 3 more topics where the hoard of AFKers will whine about how they can't get their title because of the grasps who killed them lol
EDIT - On a side - note, Cain there is one more reason to have a spirit spammer in his team: he's likely to be the last one alive to rez his team mates. Everybody has to stay far away from the mobs tanked by the warrior, but only a spirit spammer can do that. The radius of the support spirits is huge, and the damage spirits strike really far (1.5 x aggro circle I think). Therefore mobs shouldn't hit him, and when things go bad he should be able to run easilly and come back to rez. Flech of my flesh was defintely the skill of my victorious run there. Other casters gotta get close to the mobs to do their job (aggro circle distance). As monk, I used to go forth and back to heal the warrior: that was generally OK but I was in frontline when one mob escaped.
Kijik Oni Hanryuu
LOL!! Now I want the buggers to invade even more lol. I would also love to see when I am there and the grasps invade and I just start picking em off one by one, while everyone gapes in amazement and is like "ZOMG HAXXORZ a SIN is GOOD?! LIES!!!!"
