Ok, I'm late on reading this monster of a thread (56 pages!), but entertaining so far. Here's a couple I had over the weekend, not the worst (those I'm sure have been put to pasture by my memory) but still noteworthy.
Saturday: A couple guildies need help with Ring of Fire, so I log in as my Monk, because it's easier to get in / form a party when you're a Monk (go figger THAT one). So, we get it together, and I'm the leader, choosing people as I see fit to our needs. Actually, the other Monk was a guildie too, I remember, so you can imagine the number of blind invites we were getting. Anyways, on the local channel I see a "Mesmer LFG." Now I hear all the time how mesmers get no love, so I pick him up. knowing it would probably be hard for him to get into a group. Little did I know his favorite 4 letter combination was "stfu". Well, we get through the mission fairly well, even though nobody wants to lead. I know the mission, having done it with 3 different characters, but hell, I'm the Monk, I'm supposed to stay in the back. Regardless, I often had to call targets and even pull with my Holy Rod. Occasionally the Mesmer would commment or speak to someone and always preclude it with "stfu." Ugh. Anyway, we get to the fortress and my lowly healer had to go pull the Mursaat and Jades back so we could kill them, then we took out the outer Towers and opened the gate. Of course some more Mursaat come rushing out, and I tell everyone to pull back so we don't have to fight inside the energy draining field. So Mr. Smartass replies to that, "why don't you just stfu and heal." Oh, NO he didn't. I immediately said, "bye," and turned around and walked away. Everyone asked what I was doing, I said "I don't need this mission, I am not going to be talked to like that." Of course Asshat says he didn't need it either. Funny he didn't ever drop, though... The only reason I stayed was to help my 2 guild mates, any other time I'd just say screw it and find something else to do. Out of boredom, I walked all the way back to the start of the mission
. But I was still watching the health bars as I loafed around. I waited till they started to drop considerably before I went back, hoping they'd all be dead by then. Then I could rez everybody except Assmonkey and go finish this mission. Well, the other Monk managed to save the day before everybody else bit the bullet. But, I was determined to get my revenge. I typed in guild chat for my partner not to heal that fool at all, under any circumstances. So after I caught back up, I again took the lead and started pulling, except fromt his point on, I'd aggro Jades and Mursaat and immediately run behind the Mesmer with my new friends in tow. That fool got the SNOT beat out of him, and we would not heal him at all. After he was dead, we'd kill the mob, rez his fool ass, and then I'd do the exact same thing with the next mob. We did it that way for the rest of the mission; I know I got him killed at least 5 times. Believe it or not, he never said a solitary word to anyone the rest of the way. Sometimes it's easier to put someone in their place with actions instead of words. The rest of the group was amused and appreciative. The mesmer promptly left the group as soon as we zoned into Abaddon's. I pity whomever had to deal with him next.
Sunday: I'm taking my Ranger on a Barrage/Pet ToPK run. We're doing extremely well, making excellent time... We get to the 4th floor, Hall of Heroes, and get in our groove, taking on 2 of the roving mobs, and we notice that one of the Rangers isn't doing anything, just still standing at our spawn point. We left one roving mob and went down to kill the worms. Afterwards, we notice that the one guy has STILL not moved. Everyone's asking if he was afk or not. I pull up the chat history, and he didn't announce being afk. The group leader asked what was up, and he just replied, "ah" and nothing else, so he WAS there. I knew right then he was a lamer, and planned to rush in as we killed the darknesses at the end and get his drops without doing any work. Oh, SCREW THAT, I thought. I told the rest of the group to stay put. As they said in Batman, "always mind your surroundings..." I ran up, aggroed the roving mob with my flatbow, ran right next to this asswipe until he was in their aggro, then walked away. Needless to say he was dead in about 5 seconds. We came back up as a group to kill the enemies, and I said quite flatly, "Do NOT rez this fool. If you rez him, I'm dropping." All of a sudden he was livid, whereas in the past 10 minutes he had nothing to say. "I was afk! I was on the phone! I'm gonna help!" Yeah, whatever. even the group leader didn't buy his BS. "Who gets a 20-minute phone call at 3 in the morning?" he asked. Heh. So we went on without him. Interestingly enough, he didn't leave, even though it was clear we were going to leave him there. Once we were almost done, he had the nerve to say, "I'll still get my greens, and you won't be able to pick them up." I knew better, but it was out leader who told him the facts: "You're too far away, so nothing will drop for you." Still he stayed, I guess not accepting the truth as fact. So we finished up the level, got our loot, rubbed it in his face that he was left out, and then he quit. I told the rest of the group that punishing that lamer fool was in itself worth the price of admission.
So I got to turn 2 of my bad experiences around. One thing about immature losers, they can act stupid and be loudmouthed and rude, but they have no learned way to deal with being humbled and humiliated.
