Battle Rage and Flurry are both stances, not to mention that Dolyak Signet, Watch Yourself, and Healing Signet will all cancel Battle Rage....

As of now, the only Wintersday event so far has been the Icy Dragon Sword. There are a bunch of new NPCs all around and about (LA, ToPK, Ascalon)...

There is a 15 minute delay before the match will show up, so prehaps you were checking too soon?

Prehaps the guild database was an easier method? Could've been too much bandwidth and they figured it was easier just to have guilds list...
