Considering it is a 9000 series Radeon, it probably is just experiencing silicon degradation. Up the voltage SLIGHTY to your GPU via BIOS...
Sounds like a scripting issue, if it is happening mainly when you open inventory, chat window, etc. Check your GPU temps in the nVidia control...
