You can only get skills for a profession that you are using at the moment. That is simple.

Ill probably make a necro/ritualist, so i can unlock the new skills, and later on after i ascend i can switch my secondary as the circumstances...

For IW, whatever has the fastest attack time is best. I think that is swords, (maybe dagger when factions comes out).
