The Biggest Jerk You Ever Encountered in GW (no posting names)
{IceFire}
there are good w/mo's out there like me, just to reassure u guys

My biggest jerk award goes to the Wammo we just beat in a GvG We lost one monk immediately through a crash, and one of our Rangers got disconnected after 10 minutes, leaving us 2 people down.
In a battle lasting just under an hour, where my Mesmer went from 60% dp to 10% morale, we finally win and say GG. The Wammo replies N00bs.
I just thought that was priceless. To lose to a guild ranked way lower than you, and who had 2 less people. If we are N00bs, what does that make them?

Found this jerk over the weekend doing Ring of Fire mission.
I play as often as possible with the friends that I have accumulated over the past months, but we are always happy to find new players along the way that play in a friendly, fun and considerate manner like us. Here I was helping out three other friends with this mission. The other 4 party members were new to us. One of them was a warrior who we were really happy with, as his game play was as friendly and team-spirited as ours. Another person who we didn't know before was a monk healer who also played in a very friendly and team spirited manner. As second monk we had Lina the henchman.
The jerk in the group was another warrior. When attacking the first set of Mursaat, this warrior died in like no time. It seems as if his armour was not infused judging by how quickly he died, but we never did find this out for sure. He blamed our monk for letting him die, and started calling him a terrible monk. He continued to mob this monk when he died the next time while fighting the group surrounding the first ether seal. Our monk protested, of course, and asked the warrior if his armour was infused. But then jerk warrior started in with this "what is your rank" BS. Jerk warrior's rank was something like 27 and this was apparently supposed to mean he was a far better PVE player than the rest of us.
Now this all made me start to see red. We do not like people mobbing other people in our groups, do not tolerate the use of the word "noob", etc. There was nothing wrong with the monk's game play and we certainly didn't want him to leave the party on account of a jerk warrior. So I started spamming stuff like "I have rank 0 and I am a very experienced PVE player" and "rank doesn't mean s--- here in a PVE mission" to shut him up. At this point I would have preferred that jerk warrior left the group rather than our nice monk. Fortunately the rest of our group also began to mob jerk warrior, saying he should apologize, etc.
Jerk warrior finally calmed down and we continued. We did the bonus so if jerk warrior wasn't infused before, he was at least for the rest of the mission.
After the mission while still together as a group in the next mission town, my friends and I said thanks to the monk and to the nice warrior in the group. We invited the nice warrior and the monk to add us to their friend's list, saying that it was always nice to meet nice players and that we hoped to play with them again. Heh heh, jerk warrior was still in our party at this point and so could hear what we said. We certainly did not extend such an invitation to jerk warrior!

The biggest jerks are the monks standing around the storage and just open trade and say "you buy?" and when you tell them no they keep doing it.

i bought a 10/9 sundering string off of one of the farmers for around 7k. i decided not to splurge any more, but the guy kept pestering me to buy more saying crap like "you rich" and "you buy more?". i'd already spent 20k of my 30k that i had earned, and i didn't want to spend anymore. eventually i got him off my back, but it was still irritating to have him PMing me like that...

To me the biggest jerk tends to be those that call others "NOOB" .I get a kick out of it.
You dont buy what they are selling..Noob
Some warrior rushes out and gets killed as was brought out earlier..Noob
The party scatters in all directions and the poor monk is trying his best to heal and someone dies ..Noob
3 guys in party decide to be leader and try different paths... so if you dont follow your Noobs.
Someone ask a question he is a Noob.
I been playing GW for about 3 months and reminds me of D.Some of the folks out there seem to feel the need to feed thier ego by trying to make someone else feel like they are less.I call it the little johnson syndrome.
It is a game to have fun.For everybody...

Not too sure about this being the biggest jerk, but it should go in here, I found it more hillarious than frustrating though.
Was doing Elona Reach (with bonus) with a friend yesterday. we get the first group, one of our warriors had told me in advance that he could heal as I had advertised for a monk. me, being me, figured he'd change to war. skills after seeing we have a monk. (my second mistake was not asking the monk if he was a healer).
So.. we get in, and find out our 'healing' warrior carries a candy cane hammer. We get the first part of the bonus done, he's still carrying a candy cane hammer.. someone asks if he's gonna fight with that the entire way.. his answer was yes.
Meanwhile, we're doing ok against the minotaurs, but the healing department seems to be lacking a bit (2 dead), and I see our candy hammer warrior casting protective spirit.
by the time we get to where the timer starts, we start running into problems (someone's idea of pulling was to charge in, neither one of the warriors though). It suddenly occures to me that the monk is doing VERY little healing, and go check what she's casting... Conjure Phantasm!
It ended up to the point of me, who was playing mes, pointing out that she should use fast casting, not divine favour, she laughed at it.
The skill bar, from what I saw, consisted of Healing breeze (for herself) conjure phantasm, some mantra, power spike and restore life.
Needless to say, we didn't make it.
What really got me laughing though, is finding people again a little later, and having someone invite me (as a Mesmer at Elona?). Upon checking who's in the team, I notice our mesmer monk is with them, but they have another monk too.. Whispered their leader pointing out that their monk isn't a monk as such, and got told 'join our party, we have 2 monks' to which I quickly replied, giving the skill list of the mesmer wannabe.
Dunno if they managed or not, just the weirdest experience I've ever had with pugs, and a lesson to ALWAYS ask everyone what they're running.

I'm cursed with meeting jerks in GW.
I started a Monk because there never seems to be one around when you need one. I was doing a desert mission with a PUG and was the only healer. I warned them all that I'm not super experienced at monkee-ing, but I knew the mission and would try hard to keep them alive. It was the one where a ghost takes you to the alter and you have to kill another ghost, and there are those siege worms all over the place.
The beginning of the mission, 2 people who were guild mates and a random third guy were insulting me the entire way. Their health bars never dropped below 75%, so I don't know what the problem was. We get to the bridge, and most of the archers on the sides are down, and there was only 1 left, so I talked to the ghost to bring him closer, and the party leader begain "shouting" at me that he left the ghost there for a reason and that I'm a noob. I start to explain that I need to talk to him anyway, because I have to stay back in order to heal and not take damage, as well as to protect the ghost, and the barrage of insults start up again. I apologized to the others that were completely silent through all this (which i find to be jerky behaviour as well), and said that I was going to leave because this mission was not worth putting up with them. They said, fine, go. So I did. That was the first time that I have ever purposefully dropped from a mission group where things were going well. I felt bad, but I hoped that they all died painful, horrible deaths since the only monk left.

1) Defusing "noob callers"
"Someone needs a nap."
"Someone didn't get their ritalin."
"Someone had too many pop tarts."
These are time tested by me in this game and others, and are guaranteed to infuriate noob callers. Use them with my blessing.
2) Guild jerks: I am on a hiatus from GW because of the difficulty of finding a good guild.
If you misrepresent your guild as to number of active members or amount of pvp/pve done to get warm bodies, you sir (or madam), are a jerk.
If you as a guildleader use your guildmates as monkbots once you find out they can monk, and yet you yourself never seem to be monking, you sir (or madam), are a jerk.
If you as a guildleader or officer use your guildmates as a pvp "lego set" and expect them to stand around for hours while you try to work out crappy builds on the fly, you sir (or madam), are a jerk.
Great thread, fun reading.

Locking the trade window might slow me down but it's my conversation that is the art of scamming. I promise whatever the player wants to hear in order to lower their defenses. My most powerful tool is other people's greed. If I ask a room how much I should sell my black dye for and someone says 1k. Then they are so eager they should be scammed. I make about 40k on a good day and I am only on my first character a lvl 16 W/Mo

A simple statement like:
'The healing stops until the insults do' works wonders.
As the only monk in party, you have them by the collective balls, so to speak.
It's an arrogant way of thinking, but people are going to be asses regardless.
And don't feel bad about doing it, anyone who willingly insults their lifeline
deserves it.

Lg5000, I've had the same experience as you... a monk who uses Conjure Phantasm instead of bringing heal spells, except my situation was during a farm run for IDS. I died and decided to watch how the monks were doing... and I see her spamming conjure. Upon confrontation, she has the audacity to tell me "shut up, you don't know what I do." I'm thinking, I suuure don't because this is a standard farm run, where 4 other peeps needed your HEALING powers, not some pathetic health degeneration on one enemy for 10 seconds... Needless to say, I did ragequit. I mean, c'mon man, it's a group - you have to pull your own weight.

Now, what I really don't understand is why so many people dwell on the fact that a large number of people who play this game are children. For goodness sake its a game after all is it not? I think it is more sad when a 30 year old is sitting there playing a game- making fun of kids who play, insted of ahving a job or life.

I am 29 and play GW every night from 9 to 12, does this mean I have no life, or job? I dont think so, I have a job that provides me a very good living, I own a house and have two vehicles that are new.
Just because I am sitting at home everynight playing GW after my wife goes to bed does not mean I dont have a life. It is something I enjoy doing with my free time. Which is my right.
All the generalizations should just stop, fact of the matter is you have NO idea who the other people are. You can make assumptions based on spelling attitude and actions, but ther just assumptions.
Its a game we all play it to have fun right?

lol i'm nearly 22, gamed for the last 5 years and intend to game til i'm dead I work in a game shop, we have customers who are 80 buying for themselves. There's nothing wrong with being over 12 and playing games.
There IS something wrong when you're 30 and running round in-game shouting "n00b" though. I don't think many people do dwell on the fact that people playing this game are children; i think many people dwell on the fact that most who play this game ACT like children. There's a difference

Anybody who claims somebody else shouldn't be playing (short of violating the ToA) is a jerk in and of themselves, I think. I do wish more people would act more mature, but hey... if I have a problem with how someone is presenting themselves, I have plenty of districts to choose from.
That said, I would give all my plat from now until next Wintersday if more GW players - whether 13 or 30 - would use more intelligible English. But that's just me.

I wonder how many of the "little kiddies" glue themselves to the PC screen and scrounge cash off their parents when they could get a job.....

Silly, silly, silly Talin. Doncha know once you reach 21 you are supposed to stop playing games & sit in a rocking chair all day?
A little OT but along the same lines.... I really wish game makers would make a game with adults in mind. I am getting extremely tired of dealing with all the "lil kids" in games & am also tired of the Disneyesque(game devs keep adult elements out of games) censoring that goes on in games.
When is a QUALITY video game(SEX GAMES 3 does not count as quality)going to be strictly marketed to adults? I would love to play a ADULTS ONLY version of GW. Not only because a lot of the frustration would be removed but also the reality of the game would be heightened.

Heh I got a story that im sure you all will enjoy, Just happened today! I will admit I lie a bit in the story but it all turns out good trust me. Long but keep reading it gets inturesting.
So this all started out, a friend I had met asked me if I had the shield around Thirsty river that a collector handed out for 5 bleached shells. I said No, I asked for the stats and they were VERY nice! SO it is now my mission to get those 5 shells.
I meet a guy named ***** Hammer ( the rest of his named deserves to be revealed, but Ill spare him from you guys :P ). He answered my call when I asked for 5 Bleached shells, he asked for 1000 each as he had 8, I simply asked him if I could pay 4607 for the 5 as I was low on money, he agreed without thought.
( Next paragraph, see if you notice what is wrong )
So I got my 5 bleached carpaces and went to the collector, saw my shield, BUT he would not take my bleached shells. I checked my invintory and saw " 5 Bleached CARPACES ". AHHHHH!!!! What is this?!?!? I have finally been scammed!
So in seconds I message Hammer and he simply sais " Hehe you fell for it " when I ask it back as it could have been a mistake. I was so infuriated, I had been scammed and then laughed at for the first time. And I tell people all the time to ALWAYS check their stuff, but I sure didnt.
Could I get my money bacK? Read in the next paragraph ( I dont know text limit ).

>>>>>>>>>>> If you have not read my first one, scroll up as this is the second part of it<<<<<<<
SO I imiedietly message my good friend and tell him to message the enemy child with this message as quick as possible, for he had ignored my account after I told him that I " Will report you to the EULA for going against your agreement ". Now I know they cant do much, but I was hoping he didnt know that.
Anyway, I told my friend to tell the child this.
" This is the EULA, we have a screenshot from a " Wes the Wonder " proving you have stolen his/her gold currance from Guildwars, being against your agreement. You will pay him or be banned "
Now he didnt respond after that, and man I got so sad and depressed, I really was saving up for that good shield and this had happened. So with 1 last trick up my sleeve, I told my friend to tell him this last message.
" You now have 29 minutes left, you will pay " Wes the Wonder " or your account will be banned for a minimum of 2 weeks. You have your warning "
NOW he messaged me and it was time to do business. I was jumping, but the job was not done yet. We met at thirsty river in a district of 1 and he started the trade. But that scammer would just risk it all to scam me some more. I only Saw 500 in the trade. Fast and furiosly I told him to pay me my full amount NOW. " Take the ******g money or Ill ******g leave you hear me? " He kept yelling, it was getting bad.
SO I was so eager to be thankful and take my small amount that was shown before me. However, I wanted that 4607 of mine back, bad... So I told my friend to lay this riskful final punch on him.
" This is the EULA, you now have 19 minutes to pay " Wes the Wonder " his full amount of 4607 or your account will be banned. Thank you "
IMIEDIETLY he starts threatning me! Telling me to accept or he would hire a hitman to blow my brains out! But I laugh knowing this was impossible and tell him one last time to give me my full price or he could get banned for months for all I could care.
And thank god, he gave in and gave me my full 4607 amount of gold. Well I wanted to yell back to him " THE SCAMMER HAS BEEN SCAMMED B! " BUT my friend suggested that he should just tell Hammer:
" This is the EULA, your gold payment has been met, thank you. If this is ever reported again your account will be banned permanatly. "
So I did lie but I got my money back and HOPEFULLY he learned his lesson.

I really hope that little kid (which he obviously was) really learnt his lesson.
The other day (I think it was on Sunday) I was doing Northern Wall with my "Oh so über W/Mo 7" and just picked 3 peeps to my team (an ele, a mesmer and a monk). As you know, the mission is quite simple, and the bonus is not much harder, if you have ever done it before.
Before we leave, I remember to remind everybody we're really doing the bonus too and they all agree. And off we go.
There was nothing special until the 1st of the Bonus items should have been picked up. Unfortunately it was to picked up by our monk. I told him: "[monk's name] pick that up." Nothing happened. I repeated myself. Nothing. Then I used caps. He started to move, but not to pick up the thingy but to continue the mission. Luckily none of the other 2 decided to follow him but helped me to spam him to "GET BACK AND PICK UP THAT #@$$@# THING!!!" Nothing... he just went on to face the Devourers himself and died away quite soon without our help. I went to rez him, after he promised (yes, he asked for rez and proved that he wasn't a bot) to get back and pick that thing up.
For a while everything seemed to go rather well... until I guided the team towards the last part, which takes us away from the main route for mission. The monk started to complain that it's the wrong way "I have done this so many times that I know." After we had a debate which way to go, I told him to take us to bonus guy, if he so well knew where he was.
After killing the Charr boss before the end of the 1st part of the mission, I asked him to give me the part he had, for they must be with the same person (that's what I told him... I know, I know, they don't have to be with the same person, but if he had ever done the mission, he should have known that too). And then I told him to stop and follow me. He stopped, but as we (me and the other 2) headed back to get the 4th part and the bonus - he started to dance there and I guess he just went AFK.
Luckily he wasn't the one to whom the last part was assigned to and we got the bonus done.
Then we went to do the Run back to the Wall. Again, I think he was AFK as he didn't follow us after the cutscene.
That is just one example of the people who want to lead even if there was someone more capable of doing it than themselves.
If any of you identify yourself as that monk from this, I apologize my behaviour then, I usually don't swear
Mavrik
Thats funny Wes! HAHA can't feel bad for scamming a scammer.
I don't come across to many rude people thankfully.
During Dragon's Lair... a warrior threatoned not to help unless someone gave him a sword. Well none of us had any swords and he couldn't have mine, then what would I use? Besides I don't deal well with threats so we all ignored him. We then asked that anyone wanting to cap some skills wait by the portal until all were ready to proceed. What happens? The warrior runs through the first portal while we're all capping and then drops from the game. Thankfully we got the skill.
First jerk/scammer I encountered was on a run to droknar. People are smarter now but back in the day when this all began... people didn't know any better... well I didn't. I was a newb. A necro (yes I know better now) was offering to run people to Droknar for 1.5k. Now me being a newb, thought this was pretty cool but being cautious said "Can I pay 500g now and 1k there?" I was told sure that would be fine so I paid her 500g... we zoned and she promptly dropped from the game. We all knew right away we had been scammed and unfortunatly for the rest in the group... they had paid 1.5k. I added the person to my list and still see him/her online hehe... but I haven't done anything about it. I could care less at this point.
This winterday event brought out some jerks to. When Dwayna was dropping gifts, I was standing in the circle edge where they were falling. I stood in a spot that every second drop was getting one. I collected quite a few. But along would come someone and stand right there beside/in me and call me a b*tch for picking up the gift before they could. I'd just "haha" and keep on picking them up. Hello this is my spot, find your own.

^^Excellent ending to that story. I have met many, many jerks in my time, but one thing that always annoys me is when I run to Granite Citadel from the war camp. This is a 1.5k run (even that is underpriced compared to what many charge). I have done this run so many times that I am now somewhat of a pro (though that run is very hard to get a 100% guarantee on). Anyway, when I ask for pay on arrival, usually only half the people pay. This is odd to me, since I always make near flawless runs. I now ask for payment at the zone (Spearhead), but I always have to answer questions about whether or not I can make it :-P
And about the age thing: age should not matter in judging someone, rather, their maturity level should be what they're judged upon (though I'm sure the majority of jerks are 12 or under). I'm only 16, but am (hate to brag), one of the more mature people in the game, though I don't talk on TS much simply because I'm afraid of getting prejudged (like I tend to do when I hear a mickey mouse over the channel, though my voice is somewhat normal )

Had another one the other night ... helping out a friend in Yak's ... was going to run to Lion's Arch for him so he could participate in the Wintersday festivities and such, figured i'd be nice and ask if anyone else wanted to "hop on the train", so to speak, while I was already doing it. I keep my local chat off most of the time, so I typed:
"Running to Lion's Arch for free (tips always appreciated, but not expected). Invite self"
My invites fill up, I make sure that's where everyone wants to go, and am about to head out ... when ...
(all in private messages, btw)
Jerk: "--ck you buddy"
Me: "I beg your pardon?"
Jerk: "You don't know how to read?"
Me: "Who the hell are you, and why are you sending me nasty-grams?"
Jerk: "I just don't appreciate you trying to scam me"
Me: "Ok ... um ... how am I trying to scam you?"
-Player Jerk is ignoring you-
So I turn on local chat, and come to find out the reason this Jerk is so ill, is that he had said "Running to LA, 1k each, invite self" or something similar just before I had typed that I was running there. Now some of you may be quick to jump on the "well you're the jerk for lowballing him" bandwagon, but here's my rebuttal:
1) It's the holiday season, and I was trying to be nice to folks who wanted to enjoy the Wintersday stuff ... and
2) I didn't even have local on, nor did the Jerk tell me why he was mad, nor give me the chance to explain.
So you be the judge on who's the jerk, but that's the story

Well I am going to say this, so the people who atleast read all of my story will be well aware. Guild Wars is NOT responcible for items you were scammed for the way I was. So PLEASE check your stuff good! I thought I had checked mine perfectly when I saw the word bleached and the picture of a shell. It had to be a bleach shell, but it wasn't! So read your item no matter how sure you are. Because some people will be alot smarter than this kid was.
Glad you enjoyed it btw, if im in guild wars talk to me if ya want. My name is the same as the one provided.

I dropped into LA (no specific district..just clicked enter) and ended up in LA d9 to find a present just sitting there. I stood there for a second and the only other person in that district was a long ways away (by the edge of my onscreen map). I decided since he was just standing there to pick it up and go to the child and get a present. The instant I picked it up, He started spamming me with all kinds of nastiness saying I need to find my own DISTRICT to go to for present farming or whatever he called it. I was actually quite amused by all the the crap he spammed me. I remind you that the present was sitting there and I didnt pick it up for about 5 seconds while he stood semi-nearby....what a jerk-off...
Mavrik
if the present remains to long, the grentchs actually will come over to it and destroy it anyway.
