The usually shut up for a while after that.

Then in a mission a day later, we go in and someone says "no offense, but that is the most stereotypic ranger name ever" I laughed and agreed and we all went on to have a good time.

It is amazing what people choose to fill their time with in these games sometimes.

Has it occurred to you that it might just be a bad name?

met a jerk just now in FOW =/ a shard dropped for but i didn't realise because we were running all over killing mobs since we got raped a bit so it rolled over. when we finish with the mob killing one of us goes to pick it up and another party member says 'hang on, that wasn't yours, you should give it to xxx' jerk is silent for a long long long time (apparently they were checking on drops log) after another long while, jerk replies 'they didn't pick it up so it's mine now' rest of party complain about how discourteous that is seeing as we were busy killing. jerk continues to deny being rude and doesn't even apologise and this carries on for the whole 2 hours or so that we're there. jerk even ended up getting 5 shards and calls the party leader gay/queer the whole lot.

i wouldn't have minded if jerk had asked if he could have the shard still or apologised, but to just slag off everyone for pointing our what their view was is just rude.

This is more of a OMGZ! What a dork! story: Today in HA me and a guildie where looking for a blood-spike team, eventually I get into this Blood-Spike team but the leader wasnt accepting my guildie and I asked him why not and his reply was: "doe u hef ts?" My guildie invited himself again after me saying thats my guildie, and got rejected. The leader stays silent and I ask him why he isn't letting my guildie in. He says: "sftu nob or i kik u" I lol'ed and left. Later another necro Pm'ed me saying he took 5people and 3 hench in. Then us two and my guildie started another B-Spike team.

Lets try and keep things somewhat civil/polite/PC please

No where in my post did I say it was a great, good or bad name. It is a name. The point, which you seem to have missed, was that people decide to harass people about it..continuously. Well I've finally encountered a jerk.

I'm no PvP player, but I tend to do RA sometimes working out builds, I had a pretty decent one going and we were in a team of 1 W/Me (me), 1 Wammo, 1 monk and a mesmer. First four matches we won easily, then we encountered some resistance and well, I have to say I ran headfirst where I should not have run into. On this the monk said in all chat "Ruby sucks, bye" (my char name was Ruby). Which put me off of pvp for that day.

Don't be silly. RA is like that.
I once joined RA and my party members just stood there, giving the other party a victory for free. I was the healer, so there was nothing I could do. I didn't even bother to heal, since none of them responded to my cries.
I am not bitter. Lots of people join RA just to see what's it like.

Yeah, that's true. Normally I shrug it off. However once in a while I stop playing PvP for a while, or wait until guildies come on and do some TA, since we still play the game for fun and can handle losing.

The same happened in one of my FoW runs but with a different end.
Jerk takes the shard, but one of our monks noticed it wasn't for him and told him to give it back or he'd drop.

The Jerk wasn't that jerk and after thinking it twice he gave it back.

It's funny how some kids have nothing better to do with their time than to make fun of someones name. It's as bad as those know-it-alls who constantly criticize everyone elses builds. Just let people play the game and enjoy themselves. I can't see how your characters name should have any impact on how they play the game.

Maybe if you explained to them that they have to adjust it in TS. When you tell them the way that you do, they are probably turning down the volume of their speakers. We always walk people through on how to adjust volume and haven't had to kick anyone.

Uh-uh, he insisted that we were stupid, that we were lying to him, that we were going to get killed in no time in FOW. I could only respond "but why would we lie?".

Well, we got another monk and had a great time with lots of shard drops!

Coolsti, I'll do FOW or any mission/quest with you anytime!

Nope, they'd be lining up to go, figuring it's a new place and they want to be the first to go. You'd also have people spamming to the same place, only cheaper then you. lol.

Decided to do my monthly good deed. I went down and said to all the lower level people with my Invinci mes, or i switch out of shock war and wammo with them, my only condition is that they must fight some of it without me so they learn what to do, since its my invinci mes i drop my balth spirit spot and take rebirth its no biggie the monsters are weak.

Anyways, i go to TGNW and type "lvl 20 helping anyone who needs help with this mission and rest of ascalon, maybe shiverspeaks if time" well i get a group inviting i try to take a group that can fight it off on its own so when they do have to do some fighting they can. I took an ele a monk and one warrior ele. Well we get to the part of TGNW where i ask them to fight, it is where the grawls are facing the gargoyles in the tarpit. i told them to kill all of the creatures. well here is where it gets ugly.

W/e-Huh why do we have to fight you said running
Me- No i did not i said Helping
W/e-wtf its cuz you cant can you
Me-Nope its because i think you need to learn for yourself how to do this.
W/e-this is bs f***ing noob go /kill yourself
Me-gladly now if you dont plan onleaving ill be gone now(I had told monk and ele to meet me back in dis1)
W/e-haha nub running scared

Well we grabbed a new warrior and kicked butt through the rest of the missions even did frost gate with them.

Me: Hey, you have my 15k and I'd like it back
jerk: wtf are you talking about!?!?!?
Me: (patient) remember you tried to trade me your victos axe but you said it was on your other guy after I had submitted 15k of the 115k for it.
Jerk: Oh yea, well I can't give you back your 15k
Me: (figuring he spent it) Well why not?
Jerk: The price of the axe has decreased and I've been waiting for you (he was lying all my guildies were watching to see if he was online and we never saw him on) so I could sell it. Now the price is 70k so I can't make that big of a profit. YOU ripped me off (Oh, so I ripped him off now huh? he took my 15k).
Me: It's your own fault for not selling the axe after you scammed my 15k, so if you'd just give me back my 15k we could just leave this all behind us.
Jerk: Screw you, I can make like no money off my axe now! You caused me to lose 45k off it because I waited for you!
Me: (explains the entire situation again)
Jerk: stops talking to me
Me: gives up and never talks to him again.

And I'd still like to have my 15k back XP

Well this isn't really a jerk, but is stupid... and is me!!!

Went into FoW over theweekend with a decent group. Just done the first quest when i noticed it had started to rain outside, I had to get the washing in so did a quick 'brb' (not attacking at the time) and ran out to get it.

Well got back to my pc and everyone had gone, so double clicked on someones name and started running off. In the meantime I thought it would be polite to respond in what had happened, so was typing a message when I suddenly looked up and was running through the middle of loads of baddies. Turned out everyone had run off to get a chest, loads of ba guys so they just went around them, I of course took the most direct route... half the team promptly died as I bought loads of agro through, took 5 minutes to get rid of it all and rez everyone. I was promptly saying sorry every 5 sec. Felt awful. Everyone was OK about it after and had a good laugh and we carried on and did very well (was a good group). I'm still sorry guys!!!

Chest wasn't worth the effort anyway and that manoeuvre is now called a Taffy...

Why don't you just do them ALL a favor and let them play the game without your uber-help? They will cope, they will learn how to survive and succeed without you and be better off for it.

Sounds to me like you are one of those many GW players that are so bored that you need to entertain yourself by helping people through the game in the low levels - and thereby ruining the game for them. That you encountered the reaction you did instead of gratitude is perhaps fitting.

It all depends on how you are helping them. This guy is doing it the right way. The warrior who goes to TGNW just to rush in and kill everything before the rest of the party has a chance to attack is the wrong type of "helper".

He is trying to teach and mentor, nothing wrong with that.

When I play the lower levels I try to set my attributes low so that I am not quite doing one hit kills.

It might also be worth it to help people out on the more difficult missions. Prior to Nolani (which some people have problems with bonus) there really isn't a need to any help. Start out maybe at borliss pass because people screw up that bonus all the time.

When i first reached the Ring of Fire islands, with my first char, we were all ready to enter the mission and one person asked: "Are we doing the bonus?". Nobody said anything and I said "Fine by me, I'm not fussed." I was then kicked from the party and whispered abuse (n00b time-waster etc,) by the party leader because i would be killed by the mursaat in a matter of seconds. It then, a while later, dawned on me that he was he confused 'fussed' with 'infused'. I was, in fact, infused, and spent days wondering what the hell he was on about. :O

lol a jurk i remembered:

in ToPK, were only 5/8... 3 rangers, healer and MM, rest of group left/ got booted out/ or idk what... i'm the leader, im pulling, im giving directions. with my lead we made it 5 people from middle of lvl 2 all the way throught lvl 3, and to begining of lvl 4 (HoH)... was hard, long, needed alot of ontroll especially that Monk was acting weird (in the end of lvl 3 there all fighting Dryders and Synctees, i step aside to shut down warm, cuz im the only 1 who has interruts, and monk, who had a Dryder stuk on his back runs staright to me, instead of runing back....), and MM kept dying every 3 minutes. so we get to HOH. converssation:

me: ok now evry1 dont move from here, il bring aggro to you so we dont aggro more then 1 group.

ranger 1: NO YOU SUK AT PULLING'

me: hm... we made it all the way here thx to my pulling

ranger1 :LET ME PULL CUZ YOURE GONA KILL US ALL

****he runs in, pulls all the 4 groups. of curse were all dead in 1 minute

me: WTF!!!! noob!!!! why you pulled all 4?!!!!!!!!

ranger 1: YOU ARE THE NOOB!!!! WE COULDHAVE WON!!!!

Well one of my encounters was with a party when doing a mission, one of the enemys we were supposed to kill got stuck behind a fence and me and another warrior got a pile of abuse of some rangers cuz we weren't attacking. So i attempted to explain that we can't attack through fences and was met with this

I was monking in Dragon's Lair a while back (was helping a friend) and I happened to run into a terribly irritating Ele.

We hadn't gotten very far in at all when I noticed they were taking damage quite a lot. I looked over to where they were to find that they were up by the Warriors. This would have been fine if they hadn't run back to where us monks were sitting every time they started to take decent damage (thereby pulling all of the enemies on them onto the monks/rangers etc).

Me: Hey, (Ele name), could you stay back a bit?
Ele: But I have to stay up to use my AoE spells ;D
Here, I took a deep breath and replied: Okay, sure, just don't pull the enemies onto the monks when you want to tank
Ele: ;D
A while later, he's still doing the same thing and I'm getting really irritated at having to fend off guys
Me: Hey, ele, I'm watching you =D Stay back or don't tank -I say, still trying to keep calm

This continues until I lose my temper and we stop talking.

Later, in the mesmer bit where the spider things use Shatter Enchantment (I forget the names, it was a while back). I told the group to keep the enchantment useage down, as it meant more healing because it dealt 100 damage. The group complies, no problem and we get by ok.
Next, in the necro one, I start using my enchantments again (Mantra of Recall/Breeze and so on), as I don't take damage and the Ele starts calling my enchantments:

Ele: OMG! U said not to use enchants!
Me: Yeah, that was before, when we took 100 damage for using them
Ele: Necros strip enchants!
Me: Yes, but not for 100 damage
Ele: Goes on about N00Bs and so on and so forth
I ignore and carry on. They cotinue to call my stuff and the Necro spells that strip enchantments and going: See! See! NooB!

As soon as we finish the Elementalist Boss level, they leave after capping. Not that I was worried about that anyway.
I think they left with something along the lines of: Losers!
You reakon people would have learnt by now not to irritate the monks in PvE, as there can be dire consequences ;D (None of which I dished out, but now I wish I had.)

The other day I went to infuse an extra set of Monk leg tatoos for my Monk. Along the way a warrior decides to run into battle with no chest armor. This was rather anoying so I informed him to please wear your armor. I was polite and all however it was near impossible to keep him alive along the run up. Others were also anoyed and asked me not to heal him. So I gave one last warning to wear the armor or I will not Heal.

Me: Please put your armor on.
Him: Shut up n00b I know what im doing!
Me: Please put your armor on or I won't bother keeping you alive.
Him: Your just a $%^&ing monk keep me healed, otherwise shut your trap.
Me: It helps the group if you have your armor on.
Him I said shut up! you n00b monk. your stupid and if you can't keep me alive then don't play the game!
Me. OKIEEE!

So others must have been anoyed too because when he died getting the essence we just left him there. He never got infused and I refused to raise him.

lol i love how this is the longest thread on these forums. great way to show people how good GW is. go post some stuff on anti-jerk since theres quite a few really nice people in this game and the jerks are easily ignored
