I'm pretty sure it's just random, you can get two of anything else in a roll, so I don't think ectos are an exception, just rare.

I personally use a water e/n with maelstrom and Feast of Corruption as my Elite. Feast of corruption does shadow damage always and steals health...

The attacks still hit, they just don't do any damage. I would assume that you would still get adrenaline, because you are actually hitting...

What I'm really wondering, is why are sapphires actually worth something? Is everyone buying them in hopes that they will have a use in chapter 2?
