For PvP you want both of them For PvE go nightfall its the best of all three IMO

IMO its called tactics... Never in a battle do both sides just attack, each one looks for certain advantages. In this case it is shrines.

Ultimately to me they seem to have made PvE even more PVP oriented. Now you have to worry about slowing down that target. *cough* Kiting *cough*
