are you using vista? if so, turn off user access control. that's about the only thing that comes to mind right now.

it might be a corrupted dat file. try copying the gw.dat file from your laptop to your desktop.

he doesn't use the -dx8 tag. gw is running in dx8 by default for him. you can check it if you go to the graphics tab in your options window.

GW should be running dx9 by default. do you have any other games? if yes, do they run in dx9? the GMA 3100 does support dx9. i have no idea why GW...
