I don't think you should get a freebie extra on the team, but if the pet could take the place of a hero, I could see that as viable.

I'm not sure about this for Roleplaying characters, but I could see this as an option for PvP. You could essentially "unlock" armor...

Warrior, and I've still got more hours on him than any other character. Also my only character to have completed all three campaigns and EoTN.

I like how they're all taking off in different directions.

That's a totally decent solution. I think it would also cut down on disconnects during games, because players would want to see the match...
