I believe that all pets in all chapters get larger as they level up. At least, that has been my experience.

You can take your level 20 ranger to Elona and do quests to acquire heroes. The heroes start at different levels depending where in the storyline...

Trolls never were a great cash crop. Most people farm them to level up. Try ettins or vermin for a change of pace.
